The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Osprey Jet Daypack - Kids':
We went shopping recently for a new backpack for my 5 yr old to use for school. He tried on several at REI and fell in love with this one. After looking at a few others, I decided to get it -- it's more expensive than other school packs, but should last for more than a year.
He's used it for a week now and it's perfect for hauling school gear. It's big enough to fit a folder, his lunch, and his bike helmet inside, and the exterior pocket can hold a little something extra (a soft toy for nap, sweatshirt, etc.).
The rigid back panel means his stuff isn't squashed at the end of the day - the backpack doesn't collapse and mash everything together. Pretty genius - I wasn't sure about this feature at first look, but it really works and is comfortable for him, too.
The shoulder straps are narrower and curved to fit his 5 yr old frame, with a soft fleece-style lining. The clips are nicely sized and easy for him to work. The small organizer pockets will be good for pencils, a snack, etc. It's a little long for him right now (he's about 44"), but it still fits well overall.
He likes the color, fit, and cool bird graphic on the back -- I love the quality of construction, the lifetime warranty, and the fact that it's not branded with a cartoon character. He'll be using this for school, trips and camping for years to come.

I bought myself an Osprey backpack shortly after I started cycling in to work a few months back. My kids (ages 11 and 8)wanted to start riding in to school since their school is on the way to my work. I realized that they needed to get a good quality backpack for them. When I went to REI to check out the Jet, I brought along some "supplies" (a phone book, some DVDs and a few other books) to check the capacity, see how the packs felt, etc. At first glance, my older daughter told me that the pack was too small. We loaded it up, and then grabbed some addition books off of a shelf at REI - everything fit with no problem. Upon wearing the pack and walking around the store for a few minutes, both of my girls said that it felt like they weren't carrying anything.
This pack is extremely well-designed - it has the Osprey suspension that helps the contents sit off of the back. It also has a chest strap and hip belt to help things out. It's easy to figure out and my kids had no problem adjusting it to fit. Storage-wise, there is one large pocket for books, etc - it seems larger than 1000 cu.inches - a flute even fit in there with all of the schoolbooks. Inside this pocket is an organizer for pencils and pens as well as a small mesh pocket for additional supplies. There is a slash pocket that can handle snacks and other small items. The expandable pocket on the front works well - a bike lock and gloves fit in there nicely, and they are able to clip their helmets to the pack as well. Two side pockets can accomodate water bottles.
Overall, this pack is excellent and well worth the cost - which isn't that bad compared to other names

Tried to find a smaller pack for commuter cycling in the summer heat, lets my back breath. This was the perfect size, enough for clothes and lunch. Extra lightweight and durable. Fits perfectly on my female frame. Nice pockets, but regular sized water bottle won't fit in the side holders.
It covers little of the back, stays in place well, and the mesh backing works pretty well to keep you a little cooler.

the only thing that would make this better would be if it came in yellowpink
