I picked up this great piece of luggage a few years ago, and it's still going strong. Its two-pronged handle extends and retracts with ease, and does not feel like its about to break under weight. It has a very large interior, and can expand if necessary. Its shoe compartment easily fits a pair of 11.5 low top hiking boots and a pair of sandals together. It has two interior tie down straps. These come in handy when I have trouble filling the bags enormous interior. I packed it to capacity for my flight back to Japan this holiday season (without expanding it). Filled with clothes and some presents, it weighed in at 45lbs at the counter. It has a small and medium size pocket on the outside. I never use the small one, however I use the medium one for a small amount of dirty clothes.

I think this bag works best for those taking long "normal" trips, or short trips to the cold (Any instance where thick jackets need to be packed is this bags specialty). If I could redo it though, I would have purchased the smaller 22" version. I still may.

This bags quality is its greatest value. I've taken it through 20+ airports, and it still cleans up great. Couple that with REI's satisfaction guarantee and your mind should be made up.

I bought the 25" REI INside Passage Luggage for an extended trip to Australia. I usually like to travel lightly with a carry-on but needed space for gifts for family. This bag was almost too big; I had a lot of space left over. But I was traveling to a warm and humid climate and did not need to take sweaters and jackets. This bag would be perfect if you needed to pack heavy winter clothing and also needed extra space for souvenirs.

That said, I really think it's a quality piece. It is well-constructed, stable, and the wheels glide well. I particularly liked the shoe compartment. Also the cherry color was easy to find on the luggage carousel. I highly recommend this bag for its quality but encourage anyone to consider a smaller version if possible.

Took this bag on a three-week journey around Japan. Was just great. It's basically an efficient, lightweight trunk in a convenient size. Not at all cumbersome and yet you can pack a lot of stuff in that shape. Bag has been on a couple of overseas trips and is doing well. I wonder about the durability of the handle, but it seems to be holding up fine. Balance in this one is better than in my 22-inch model of same style.

Great bag for multiple days on the road. It is expandable for when you are either going or coming back with more than you anticipated. Very lightweight, yet feels and performs like a very solid bag.
