Comments about Spitfire Sit-On-Top Kayak:
We bought four of these four our kids recently (8-16) and they work well.
They are easy to move around and put on our trailer, they are light enough that car-topping would be easy.
My only complaint is the details are lacking. The small bungee cords that secure the seat for transit are cheap. 2 Over-anxious kids broke theirs trying to put the seat up. Granted, it is user error, but they did no pull that hard. (I saw it happen on one.)
More importantly, one of the straps that actually supports the seat and allows you to adjust it is rigged wrong. Someone slipped the wrong end in the wrong place so there is just a buckle that slides up and down the strap but does nothing. It's fixable, and I'm not too upset for a kayak at this price point. It's not worth the 90 minute drive to our REI store to have them fix it to me, I'll fix it myself.

Comments about Spitfire Sit-On-Top Kayak:
I bought two Spitfires. Used it on the lake and at the beach. Riding the waves was great fun. One of the straps for the back rest came off. Emailed Emotion Kayaks about it, they send me a repair kit. The boat is easy to handle, stable, back rest is comfortable. Tracking is reasonable for a small boat like this. The boats fit on my roof rack on top of each other.

Comments about Spitfire Sit-On-Top Kayak:
The spitfire kayak is decent if you're looking for something cheap to play around in for a few hours. I wanted something that was relatively small and easy for the kids to have fun in. The spitfire fits that bill pretty well. It's light and easy to load/unload from any car rack. I took it out for a decent ride this weekend and found it to be a very comfortable ride and very stable (I'm about 6', 180 lbs). It was easy to jump in the water and then climb back in fairly easily. Overall it was a good kayak other than the tracking left a little to be desired. If you're just looking to go out for a couple hours at a time and have some fun then this is a great kayak, but if you're planning on going on longer rides then I'd recommend something with better tracking. For the price though, this kayak is worth it in my opinion.

This kayak offers everything I could possibly need for my weekend paddling. It's very, and highly manuverable. It's very affordable, and small enough that transporting the boat isn't a hassle at all.

For the money, better than expected. Great for novice/recreational day-trips. My second Sit-on-top. Glides on Lake Tahoe. Low wind affects. Very manuverable, and stable. Little storage. Your seat will be wet. Can't wait to attack the Truckee River.

Comments about Spitfire Sit-On-Top Kayak:
2 for 2 the rivets that hold the seat back up failed - pulled loose from the hull, leaving you with no back support. REI was good about exchanging the first one, but the second one failed as well THE FIRST DAY out. A serious design and manufacturing flaw. Needs a steel plat to reinforce the rivets.
Otherwise I was VERY pleased with the boat!
But they need to fix the back support failure problem.

my dad and i bought these this summer. had them for almost 5 months now. we take them out for 2-4 hour trips on weekends. we pack them in the back of the truck no problem. we've been out on a windy day at the ocean, tide coming in, and had not problems. super stable and worth the money. also. we've had no problems with the straps. no problems with tracking. there just really fun for a quick trip out. the lake is fun too. along with the river we've gone done. so super stable. my dad is 6'2" and 230lbs and has no problems. even my little sister can sit in front of him no problem.
lots of fun
and totally worth the buy

Comments about Spitfire Sit-On-Top Kayak:
I got this for my 8 year old boy. He loves it and is able to paddle all over the lake. I have rode in it and it is alot of fun turns on a dime. The back rest hasnt broken yet even though it does seem a little weak. I was able to put a regular kayak seat on this kayak without a problem so if the seat breaks no big deal. For the price this kayak is alot of fun and durable.

My wife and I have 2 Spitfires and overall are very pleased. They are small and light enough for one person to load and carry. Both easliy fit in the bed of our pick up. I am 6'2" 200 pounds and they are stable enough for me and our 40 pound dog to ride together. I do wish they tracked a little better and had a dry well as opposed to the open storage well, but overall it is a nice ride for the price.

We've always done tandem but we decided to do singles. We're glad we did. These little boats have been great for us. We have an uplander and they both fit in nicely, so no roof rack needed. It's perfect for us on the ocean, bay and cove.
