The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Nikon Monarch X 10.5 x 45 Binoculars:
I'm a biology professor who uses binoculars for both research and pleasure. I've tried dozens of brands and models over the years, ranging from top-end Swarovski, Leitz, and Zeiss to the numerous "economy" models from companies like Bushnell, Pentax, Tasco, etc. Until I started using my Nikon Monarch X 10.5x45s, I would have simply said: you get what you pay for. Now, I say: get these (or the lower magnification 8.5x45 version if you have problems with hand tremors at higher magnification). They are a remarkable combination of excellent glass, durable design, and relatively light weight that matches them with models that cost much more.
I recently used these for 8 hours during the xmas bird count in low light and overcast/misty conditions. They were amazing. On several occasions I could see details that others, with very nice binoculars, couldn't. I suffered no eye fatigue or neck pain from using them all day long.
I know I sound like a salesperson for Nikon, but I'm mostly just very impressed with these binoculars. I've only had them for a couple months, so I can't comment on their durability, but if they are anything like other Nikons, they will hold up (I'm still using my Nikon 10x50s that survived 2.5 years in East Africa 20 years ago as my spare pair around the house). Nikon's "no fault" warranty is further reassurance that you will get your money's worth with these excellent binoculars.
Of course no product is perfect. The attached protective eyepiece covers are plastic, rather than rubber, and they may fall off if you aren't keeping track of things. I remove them completely when I'm using the binoculars for more than a quick glance at something.
