    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Yakima CopperHead Bike Mount:

The rack was easy to install and only took about 20 minutes (realized part way through that I had to move my ski rack out of the way to install and then took about 5-10 minutes to finish).

Once it was on, I put my road bike up to see how it fit and to adjust the rear ratcheting holder. The spindle that the front fork attaches to was a tad big in diameter on the non-threaded end and made it hard to put the fork in (probably from the anodizing process during manufacturing). That was the only quirk I found and it was solved with some sandpaper. I would have given it 5 stars if it didn't have this problem.

Other than that it is a great product. It holds up very well to highway speeds (and then some). I've only had it for a few months and used it about a dozen times, so I'm not sure about durability. But if it's like the rest of my Yakima rack that's been in the family for 10+ years and on multiple cars, then it should hold up to just about anything.

I would definitely recommend it to others.

Comments about Yakima CopperHead Bike Mount:

+ Easy to install (need to remember that it has a reverse thread skewer bolt)
+ No issues with my road bike, cross bike & hardtail 29er with disc brakes

        - Wish the wing knob for Yakima stuff is smaller. the wing knob does not allow it to sit flush next to my railgrab

Other notes: Because I place it right next to the railgrab tower, to protect the finish of the railgrab, apply some Clear bra to the tower where the skewer knob can contact it.

Comments about Yakima CopperHead Bike Mount:

I bought this for a road trip I was making from Alaska to Colorado and back again. 9,000 miles later I'm happy to report the copperhead performed flawlessly. I drove over some serious frost heaves in the Yukon Territory and through some extream high wind events in Moab and Colorado, all with no problems from the rack.
And I found it really easy to use. I have a Toyota Tacoma with the rack mounted over the double cab; since I'm only 5'2" I use a 2-step ladder to get the bike onto my roof top. If I can easily mount my bike on this rack while standing on a step ladder then anyone should be able to do it from the ground.
All in all, I'm glad I didn't spend the extra money on a fancier model because this one gets the job done.

Great product consistant with other reviews. The little plastic ratcheting/strap that secures the rear wheel is a little cumbersome sometimes but the upside is I haven't been able to break it yet. It's been on top of my car for two years and it hasn'budged. No rust , fade , bend, break ,nothing!

Comments about Yakima CopperHead Bike Mount:

I bought these racks for use with our mountain bikes and to bring my hybrid bike up to work in Boulder. It's been very stable, is quite easy to install (put both racks on by myself about 20min on the first one and about 10min on the second), and fits both bikes with ample room and security. Also, my significant other rides a 29er and this rack fits it just fine.

I'd say the only issue I've had with the rack is learning which way (and how to best) turn the ratchets. Not much of a con, which is why I gave it 5 stars anyway.

Comments about Yakima CopperHead Bike Mount:

I'm a bike commuter with four people in my family and one car. This rack makes my lifestyle work. It stays on my car all the time and every few days I'll meet up with my wife and kids after work and catch a ride home with my bike on top of the car. It works just the way it should. The quick release lever is designed with just the right amount of opening so that you can any bike on and off without having to tighten the nut on the other side every time, older yakima bike racks required this because the throw wasn't long enough. One drawback is that it is difficult to get on and off the bar (takes about 3-5 minutes, 3 bolts in the front under a security cover, one wingnut in the back) however, it is secure as a result.
Sidenote: I drove into my garage with my bike still on top. $1800 worth of damage to the roof of my Toyota RAV4 but all I needed was new Q clips. The Q towers, bars and bike rack were fine. The bike was still attached to the rack! Rock solid.

I have been using the copperhead for 3 years now and have yet to have a problem with it. I even bought another one because I got a second bike. This has been great to take to races to save room in my SUV. I haven't used other high end yakima stuff, but they work great for it to be yakima's least expensive roof rack. I am even considering getting a third one for my third bike, just so the rack will be uniform.
