Comments about GoLite Jam Pack:
This is a great pack for quick dayhikes and trips lasting for a couple days at a time. I recently used this on a class 3 peak bagger in the Crystal Range of Desolation Wilderness. It's ease of packing and decent capacity made it a breeze to get up and go along ridgelines and knife-edge peaks. Even though comfort was sacrificed with weight cuts, the waist belt and shoulder pads were still had a decent luxury-feel. The back padding is a single closed-foam piece that can be removed to lose another 2-3 ounces and can also be used as a sitting pad.

Comments about GoLite Jam Pack:
I ordered this from another site, and received it in a padded envelope! I was afraid it would be too small or weak because of how light it was and how easily it folded up, but I have yet to be dissappointed. For warm weather trips, I have a base weight (everything but water and food) of 10 pounds. This would not be possible without the Jam 2. 2-3 day trips feel like you have a pillow strapped to your back.
It's very comfortable, I could pack enough for a week in warm weather and it looks cool. I think it's probably the most reasonable ultra-light bag out there. Others sacrifice too much comfort or durability for the sake of weight. I've used this bag for several day trips away from the rest of my luggage in Ecuador and Taiwan, and it has worked wonderfully.
The only cons I can think of are: the outside pocket could be designed better. It is stretched flat when full and slightly difficult to use. There could be a division or two within the pocket without adding too much weight to help with organization. Also, the water reseviour sleeve makes a bulge in your back when full, so I don't use it.
Overall, my absolute favorite pack. I will use it for years to come.

Comments about GoLite Jam Pack:
I took this pack on a four day excursion through the Ansel Adams WIlderness and it performed as expected. At 3,000 Cu.In. it's not real big but it held my crammed Bear Vault Solo bear can, tarp, bivy sack, down jacket and all the rest of my gear. The seams were stretched and held beautifully. The mesh side pockets do lie flat and make it a little difficult to get things in and out of if the packbag is filled to its limits but overall it worked great. The pack is designed to carry loads primarily under 25 lbs or you'll overload the shoulder straps and hipbelt. The pack can handle it but you won't be very comfortable. As long as you keep the weights down to what Golite suggested it performed excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to take this pack out again on another four day trip.

Comments about GoLite Jam Pack:
I'm a comfort driven packrafter who is shifting to a minimalist approach and this pack fits the bill on both counts. It allows me to carry some creature comforts while keeping the weight down. The material seems nearly indestructible and I like the pockets for water bottles and front pocket for extra gear. I use this for packrafting lite and strap on break down paddles by putting them in the pockets and straping them to the sides. Or loading them in the front pouch. Works good even when I'm a little overloaded. Golite capacity for this pack is 30 lbs. Lighter is better for comfort. Great convertible bag into a day bag. So I get 2 bags for the price and weight of one. Excellent buy!

Comments about GoLite Jam Pack:
I bought this (earlier version actually) with the idea that it would only last a year or two, but since it was so cheap it didn't matter. That was 5 years ago. I've used it on up to a 6 day trip. I had experimented with doing very light overnighters (fanny pack only) to help me calibrate on what I REALLY needed to have. With the golite, I found my optimal trade-off point between comfort during hike (due to lightness) and comfort at night. My first real trip with it was a solo and I found myself running off trail with it. That sold me!

Comments about GoLite Jam Pack:
Bought this specifically for an overnight loop trip w/ hotel stay in the middle, specifically Aspen to Crested Butte and back via East Maroon and West Maroon trails 14 mi 3000' 1st day and 11 mi 3000' 2nd day. This pack is big enough to hold appropriate clothing, gear and food for this trip w/ room to spare. Easily loads, back pocket holds sandals for stream crossings, Rained on the way over and snowed on the way back. Got a little wet inside but since I had ev'thing in plastic bags, no worries. This is a great, light pack. I wouldn't want to carry much more than 18lbs in it but any weight less than that is quite comfortable.

Comments about GoLite Jam Pack:
I researched and purchase this pack with really only concern for it's weight. It was the lightest pack I could find that still had a moderate capacity.
I've taken it on overnight trips, trail running, traveling in the car, etc. It performs very well.
Favorite part is probably how it can compress down to a very small pack with no hip belt, but still allows you to use the hydration bladder slot. I can strap it down and onto my shoulders, and use it as a modified Camelbak. Very cool.

Comments about GoLite Jam Pack:
Great lightweight pack. It has been better than I expected. Well thought out. With the right gear I would not hesitate to use it for a week. Best for people whose base weight is under ten pounds. Makes a great day pack as well with the compactor system. I absolutely love it. One of my top two pieces of gear from a gear hound.
