Comments about Novara Basic Rack Trunk:
I have an older version of this trunk bag from 2006. It has gone everywhere with me. I have racks on all my bicyles and switch the trunk from bike to bike. With the hook and loop fastening system this is very quick and easy to do. From single track trails in the pouring rain, to century rides in the blistering heat, to multi-day fully loaded tours, this pack has done it all and held up like a champ. I use it primarily for carrying bike lock and tools, a rag, and a my wallet and keys, but I've put everything you can imagine in there. Library books, grocerys, and large bulky camera. No matter how much I've crammed into that little bag it has maintained it shape, and the zipper has not split. I even bungee stuff that is to big to the top of it. This bag makes a great all arounder. It it just the perfect size for hauling items for errands and commuting to work. I've had this bag in every weather condition even snow and has been great. Rain water will eventually penetrate the fabric after several hours of constant deluge but for the most part this bag is pretty water resistant. When it gets muddy I simply spray it inside and out with the garden hose and let it dry out for a day or so. After 3 years nearly 10 thousand miles of hard use the bag is finally starting to show it's first signs of wear. I anticipate it'll last at least another 3 years before it needs to be replaced. I've never before given a 5 star rating to any product I've reviewed but, I must say, this trunk by Novara is about as close to perfection as your going to get. Great job Novara!

Comments about Novara Basic Rack Trunk:
This is a durable, no-frills pack. I use it to pack snacks, camera, wallet, keys, extra water bottle, etc. for long family rides. And there's still room to wedge in a pair of sweat pants or riding pants. And the top lid has a hard, reinforce liner, which means you won't squash anything inside. We like it.

Comments about Novara Basic Rack Trunk:
I really like this product. I've recently converted my old hardtail mtn bike into an "around town" commuter bike that I typically ride into town a few miles for quick trips to a friend's house, coffee shop, restaurant, or other errands. So far the conversion includes rear rack, lights, slicks, and this trunk bag. This bag has been a great addition to my project. I purchased it recently on sale for [$]. I've shyed away from purchasing other rack bags because of the price... In my opinion they are all way over priced! A milk crate ziptied to the rack is free and virtually performs the same task... albeit a little ugly. At [$] it's a steal... I would not have paid the original price of [$]. So far I've used it to store a few extra layers, bike lock, wallet, and a rolled-up notebook or two. It is a good size... not too bulky or too small. I like the insulated lining of it... This summer I'm actually looking forward to throwing a couple of beers and an ice pack in it... After all a good summer day of running errands on a bike is not complete without a few beer breaks in the shade! I use a rear red flashing tailight... the little loop strap on the rear of the bag is nice for attaching a light.I haven't had it out in the rain yet so can't give on opinion regarding how waterproof it is... However I do plan on giving it a good coat of Scotchgurad (Which is something I do with most gear anyway). The material and zipper seems tough and durable enough... Don't forsee any issues here.My only complaint... and it's certainly not a deal breaker... is that I can't open the lid all of the way because it hits the back of my seat. This is probably because my bike is a mtn bike and I'm sure it wouldn't affect others. Road bikes, hybrids, etc are definitely better configured for rear racks and luggage and allow for better clearance. I too agree that the little lid restraint straps get in the way... Actually they are useless if I can't open the lid all of the way. Again none of this is a deal breaker... I can still open the lid approx. 3/4 of the way which is plenty to access the inside. If you can get this thing on sale I highly recommend it... It's simple, no frills, accommodates any rack, easy to take on and off, and much cheaper than most I've seen.

Comments about Novara Basic Rack Trunk:
I needed a "rack trunk" for various things like going to the beach, riding in the city, doing small shopping runs. This trunk rack fit the task quite well. It is actually bigger than it looks. I found that out when I was able to stuff a pair of pants, a couple of cans of food, my 8ft. lock, and basic bike tools in it. I was surprised. The 4 velcro fasteners do require you to pay attention to what you are doing while installing it. Also, it would have been nice if it had a front fastener to keep it from sliding back and forth on the rack. But, I got around that with a with a velcro toe strap. Overall, I am very happy with this unit. REI did recently replace this with a slightly better one, but this one is great nonetheless.

Comments about Novara Basic Rack Trunk:
I bought this Trunk for my fold up Dahon bike. It fits the Dahon rack perfectly and allows for the bike to be folded up without having to remove the Trunk ever. You can further secure your items in the trunk with an optional purchase small lock that fits through the zipper tabs.
The Trunk is large and insulated and holds my spare tube, wrenches, headlight, taillight, gloves, Kryptonite U lock, 4-foot cable, windbreaker, sunscreen, paper towels, and more if I want to put it in. I can attach my flashing rear light to the Trunk tab and it looks professional.
The Trunk holds very securely to the rack using 4 Velcro tabs and can come on and off easy if you need to. Best of all—it looks great on the bike and makes the bike look better than without a Trunk!
If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. Every so often a product comes along that is well made, makes your life easier, more efficient, and fun, and this is one of them.
Thanks.

Comments about Novara Basic Rack Trunk:
This trunk is OK for a small bag. It appears to be durable and it works well for small items. It sits on the rack solid. The straps that keep the lid from opening all the way are just in the way. I plan on cutting them off mine. Compared to other products this bag is overpriced. I purchased this because I wanted a small bag to go with larger panniers so it meets what I wanted.
