Comments about Nokian Extreme 294 Studded Tire - 26 x 2.1:
I won't ride in the winter without them. I keep them on my trail bike yr round since that's all I use that bike for. Recently got a Yak plus trailer for trail maintenance. I'm using it to transport 50 lb bags of Quikrete fast setting (20 to 40 minutes)cement. I'm putting the cement on muddy spots to eliminate the muddy spots. I put one of these tires on the back wheel of my folder bike for traction and just left the 1.25 inch road tire on the front. Didn't have room in the car for my regular bike plus 10 bags of cement plus the trailer. Works great. On my first set of these tires I used Stan's no tubes on my trail bike. That ruined and rotted these tires. So just stick with tubes on these tires.

Comments about Nokian Extreme 294 Studded Tire - 26 x 2.1:
This is my first winter biking for the entire winter here in Alaska and the tires are awesome. My wife had me ride my bike in front of the house without the Nokians and then again after I put them on. I about wiped out without them, but have not had a problem with them. Now that we are beginning to thaw out in the day time and refreeze in the evenings a part of my ride is glare ice. I have not had any problems with these tires and it is actually easier to bike on with confidence, so I can pick up my speed a bit. As the snow gets deeper it is defintitely hard to bike through. As far as the resistence on the bare ground, it is there, but after plowing through snow and ice all winter I feel like I'm flying and the resistence doesn't bother me. Awesome tires!! Ride on...

Comments about Nokian Extreme 294 Studded Tire - 26 x 2.1:
I rode this tire 9 miles to work and back in Denver for three winters and found them bombproof. We have alot of freeze-thaw here during the winter, so there is alot of ice on underpasses, but I could always depend on the Nokian, even at high speeds on the flat. I never took a fall on ice with them on the bike. Great product, but as one review pointed out, there is alot more rolling resistance than a regular tire (it means you work harder and warm up faster!).

Comments about Nokian Extreme 294 Studded Tire - 26 x 2.1:
Used these monsters for several winters here in Finland and have always made to work and back without kissing the pavement once, no matter how nasty the conditions. Even on contoured ice, you still stay in control, with only minor skidding. When the streets and sidewalks are completely iced up, riding on these actually feels more solid than walking. The best part is the winter-long workout they'll give you: there's nothing like going back to standard tires in the spring - not only are your legs rock-hard from all that resistance, it feels like you're flying with the studs gone. Only real drawback with these is the racket they make when riding on dry asphalt.

Comments about Nokian Extreme 294 Studded Tire - 26 x 2.1:
Made it through two Chicago winters riding on these almost daily. Studs still intact and doing the job. Great on ice and snow; once the snow is more than a few inches deep the riding becomes progressively tougher to impossible, but a fantastic workout. There is a lot of roll-resistance on clear streets, but it is worth it once you hit black-ice. Riding on the trails during a snow-storm can't be beat. These are awesome!

Comments about Nokian Extreme 294 Studded Tire - 26 x 2.1:
I have ridden these tires for three seasons and have only lost 2 (of 294) studs. These things are phenomenal in snow and do very well on ice (you can turn and pedal still but need to take it easy). Things get a little tricky on trails people have been walking on (picture a bumpy ride with areas of unpacked snow versus footprints). You can fly on packed snow and carve like mad. Wet snow is pretty hard to plow through. Snow deeper than a few inches will put a beating on your legs. I love biking in a snowstorm, and would highly recommend these. Well worth the money. Buy a set of metal tire irons too, because these are no fun to mount. (Hint: use some grease).
