Comments about Marmot Limelight 3 Tent:
Great tent. Everything is of the highest quality construction: great clips, tent stakes, poles and materials. The first night I had it out, it withstood 35 mph winds for 12 hours without a problem and kept the rain out. I stayed bone dry and the condensation/venting process worked flawlessly.
ALSO, IT COMES WITH A GROUND TARP and loft!!!! The weight measurements include these items, so it actually competes quite nicely, as far as weight is concerned, with other more expensive tents.
It is very easy to set up, and works great with just the ground tarp and the fly as a super-light shelter. That said, I am considering returning it.
I love being able to see out of a tent when it doesn't have the fly on, and this tent just doesn't let me see enough of the stars. It is perfect in every other way, and offers a good bit of privacy and shade as it is, but I am not sure I can live without the full sky view.
Other than that, it is very roomy, well built, and all around a winner.

Comments about Marmot Limelight 3 Tent:
This tent is a great value, as it includes the footprint and gear loft. It is comparable to the rei quarter dome t-3 or other high quality 3 person tents, but at about a benji less! The only drawbacks are it is not a full mesh tent body and fabric panels limit some of the visibility out of the tent. This is particularly anoying in the doors. Also it is not a fly weight, it weighs 6.6 lbs in the stuff sack with the footprint, gearloft, 6 stakes, poles and their carry bags. I mostly use it for canoe/raft car & bike camping but divided by 3 people 2.2 lbs each is very good for back packing. Especially for such a sturdy tent with a full fly.(my one person, single wall is 3.2 lbs) The set up is quick and very straight forward, a nice touch is the windows in the vestibles. Over all very impressed.

Comments about Marmot Limelight 3 Tent:
i recently bought this tent for a weekend in the mountains. my primary criteria when choosing a tent was its ability to keep me dry -- i have spent way too many nights sleeping in puddles of water that had made its way into my tent!
it was put to the test immediately with high winds, rain, and tornado warnings. not a drop of water made its way into the tent, and my gear in the vestibules was bone dry. held up nicely to wind with only the four corners staked.
it is a breeze to set up, and the double clips seem to give it more stability. even without a full mesh canopy it had plenty of ventilation. liked the fact that it came with a loft and footprint too.
it says it's a 3-person, but i would have to change that to a 2-person/1-kid or dog! it was a comfortable fit for me and my buddy but adding another would certainly be close quarters. i'm sure it's doable but i'll be using primarily as a 2-person!
kudos to marmot for putting out a premium tent for a not-so-premium cost!

Comments about Marmot Limelight 3 Tent:
The Marmot Limelight 3 was exactly what I was looking for. I spent a lot of time researching different tents (Mutha Hubba, Half Dome T3, etc.), and this one seemed to be exactly what I wanted. I wanted a tent that my girlfriend and I would have a comfortable amount of room in, but still light enough that I can use it for backpacking trips. Pros: There is easily enough head room for both of us to sit up in (3+), the vents provide a place to look out at night, very easy to set up, two big doors, well built, and if weight is an issue then you can just pack the rainfly and foot print. Cons: slightly heavy (but its worth the compromise), and long poles.

Comments about Marmot Limelight 3 Tent:
This is an awesome tent. I did some research and I ended up picking the Limelight 3. It came with some nice features: a footprint, gear loft and rain fly. I have used this tent in some all night rain down pours and this tent kept me dry and warm all night long. This tent is amazingly sturdy, I just used this tent in a terrible wind storm and it was truly awesome, not a problem at all.
The only down side to this tent is space. I'm 6'1, 230 lbs and my wife is 5'3 110 lbs and I can't see how you would put another person in this tent with out being extremely cramped.
Bottom line, pick this tent up if your looking for great quality at a low price.

Comments about Marmot Limelight 3 Tent:
I just bought this tent (put my dividend to good use) for a weekend trip in the mountains. My primary criteria when making my decision was the tent's ability to keep me dry. I have spent way too many rainy nights in puddles of water that had collected on the floor of the tent. We ended up having nasty weather on our trip -- rain and tornado warnings. The Limelight held up nicely in the wind and not a single drop of water made its way inside our tent! The vestibules were bone dry as well! I was very pleased with the performance and I'm looking forward to back in the woods soon. The tent is a breeze to set up/take down by yourself. I love the fact that it comes with its own footprint and attic (saves you about [$]). It's nice to have a window on the fly as well. I know some people like more mesh and less fabric, but the tent had plenty of ventilation and it seems a little more sturdy than tents with all mesh canopies. The double clips are a nice touch -- decreases setup time and improves stability. Me and my buddy were the only ones in the tent, and I can see where 3 might be a little cramped. Overall, you can't beat this deal. Marmot has done a great job with this tent!

Comments about Marmot Limelight 3 Tent:
Just got back from a weekend in the Adirondacks, which, based on the weekend we just had, must mean "Land of no sun, and much rain". The Limelight was fantastic, and kept us perfectly dry all weekend (3 nights). When we broke camp, we could see the clear outline of the tent/fly on the ground, where it was still dry even after 3-4 inches of rain. Even with the fly on and everything zipped up, there was always good ventilation and plenty of room for 2 + a few small bags inside the tent. The gear pockets near the door are brilliant as well.
The only thing I don't love about this tent (and it was almost reason for me to get a different tent) is the way the doors are set up. The doors are shaped like a "D" (as are most tents) with the flat side (the non-zipping portion) along the bottom. This means that when you open the door, that a) you have to open it almost all the way to get in/out, and b) when you do open it all the way, it drops to the floor. With the door there, you can't help but crawl over it, and that seems like a chance to get the door screen messed up. I would have preferred that the door be "hinged" on a side, instead, so that the door moves out of the way when it's opened.
That's a small complaint, though, and this tent really earned its keep. I can't wait to use it without the fly!

Comments about Marmot Limelight 3 Tent:
I'll start with this disclaimer - I am a city boy and haven't been camping for ages (10 years). Regardless, after much research, I settled on the Limelight 3P for a road trip I took around the western US this autumn. Pretty much with the exception of snow, I stayed in all conditions - cold, rainy nights in Grand Canyon, 35F nights in Yosemite, 85F nights in Death Valley, almost gale force winds on the beach at Half Moon Bay - and this tent was great.
Enough ventilation to keep me cool on the hot nights, not so much as to freeze on the cold ones (although I did have my Marmot Sawtooth to get me through those), kept me dry on the wet nights in Grand Canyon and I could look at the stars on the clear nights in Mojave and Death Valley.
I didn't have any condensation and the 28mph winds at Half Moon Bay didn't concern the tent at all (although I did end up with a great deal of dirt/dust inside the tent after that night, but obviously the mesh isn't going to stop EVERYTHING from coming through).
I'm 5'11" so no problems with room and think that this would definitely fit three people my size without packs (which could be placed in the ample vestibules) or two people with packs.
Set up is a cinch and so much better than previous tents I have used because of the clip system (as opposed to threading the poles through sleeves). Inclusion of gear loft and footprint is a bonus and storage pockets within the tent are plentiful.
All in all a great tent and I look forward to testing it in France this winter.

used my new limelite3 on a 5-day, supported mt. bike trip, mostly above
10,000 ft. and it did the job. without the fly, it kept out the bugs and i could see some stars. with the fly, it kept me & my gear dry thru 12 hours of moderate rain.

Comments about Marmot Limelight 3 Tent:
Just finished a 3 day on a ridge in NC mountains. It rained the whole time after 3am the first night. We were completely 100% dry the entire time. We were on an inescapable incline so we did take in some water underneath the tent oddly between bottom of tent and footprint, and the water never came through the floor onto our sleeping pads! The pockets and gear loft helped organize our stuff and the fly did it's job so we didn't have to worry about gear touching inside of tent and causing condensation to come through b/c there wasn't any! Tent stood up easily to 30mph wind gusts and heavy rain! Also the reflective letters helped me out quite a bit when i had to find the tent in the dark. Awesome tent!
