VDO Z1 is an elegant cycle computer with an integrated altimeter—it features fully digital coded technology that provides you with accurate data right at your fingertips without messy wires.

VDO Z1 features 16 cycle computer functions, 20 altimeter functions and temperature reading; optional cadence kit sold separately
ANT+Sport® wireless signal coding ensures that only your personal data transmits to your computer without interference from someone else's computer
Receiver twist-click mounts on handlebar or stem; or wear it as a sport watch with the included wristband

Comments about VDO Z1 Wireless Bike Computer with Altimeter:

The Good: Easy to set up. Once you've gone through the manual and completed the initial setup navigating through the functions and features is very easy and intuitive. Altimeter was very accurate! I went on a ride up to the top of a local foothill. At the top there was a sign post for elevation. The VDO Z1 was only off by 30 feet! Very impressive. Information like current speed, % grade, and temp are always displayed along with one other function of your choice.
The bad: Mounting bracket for the VDO is very cheap and flimsy. I was quite surprised by the lack of quality for a product in this price range. Cadence is optional and is purchased separately even though a portion of the display is premanently allocated for cadence. If you do not have the cadence sensor installed that portion of the screen just stays blank. A waste of real estate in my opinion. The temp gauge always read about 10 degrees warmer than the actual temp on my unit. The worst aspect of this computer in my opinion is the durability. After putting on about 100 miles on the road riding I hit a local gravel path (I ride a CX bike). After about 17 miles of bumpy gravel the sensor quit working. At first I thought the magnet or sensor had just been vibrated out of position but after playing with it for about 20 minutes came to the conclusion that the sensor had given up the ghost. Most likely something had raddled loose inside! I do not see anything on the VDO website that indicates that this unit is intended for road only. If that is the case they should disclose that, and if not they should make thier sensors a bit stronger to handle bumps and jolts!
Overall: I really liked the features, ease of use, and accuracy of the altimeter, but for me the durability was the deciding factor. I need my bike accessories to be able to tolerate a little abuse and this one broke after 3 rides and 17 miles of gravel, this product is definitely not for me. Needless to say I've returned this product and decided to try the Sigma 8.0
