This would be a fine product if it did not have one critical, fundamental design flaw: The lock attachment does not hold this basket in place, not by a long shot. A small bump will knock it off its attachment and send whatever precious cargo you might be carrying spilling out. I strongly recommend you do not buy this product until they have come to a better solution for the lock attachment mechanism. The basket is a good size, holds a standard paper grocery bag, seems like it's well made, using quality materials, but the lock simply does not hold the basket to your bike.

This basket is wonderful! The bracket extends beyond the brake/shift cables and is very sturdy. The one drawback is that it did not fit around my standard size bar. Some bending and longer screws/wingnuts fixed this problem.

I don't think the other reviewer attached the top of the basket to the bracket. A small extension on the basket handle fits into a slot on the bracket. I've hopped over curbs without the basket coming disconnected. Finally, it's a good size; big enough for several books, but not huge.

My experience with this basket has been great. In response to the previous comment, I have had no problem with it disengaging from the bracket mount. In fact, I think the locking mechanism (if you want to call it that) is ingenious. You just put the bottom hooks onto the mount and latch it in place with the handle. Keep the handle DOWN while riding and this basket is immovable. I've ridden long miles over bumpy trails and curbs and nothing shakes it loose. Its detaches quickly, easily and is the perfect size for shopping, carrying stuff. I also like that there's enough space on the mount between the basket and the handlebars to hang my lock.
