Comments about Vasque Velocity VST Gore-Tex XCR Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I loved the old Vasque Velocity shoe. The new version feels a bit loose but still is a very comfortable trail runner. The main problem is its poor construction. I have read about this issue on other reviews of the shoe, and I can attest to the problem. The heel of the sole comes separated from the midsole and creates a bubble. This has occurred on both sides. I have been a loyal Vasque customer, but something has seriously changed in their production.

Comments about Vasque Velocity VST Gore-Tex XCR Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I really feel let down with this shoe. I've only had them for about 2 months and ran (3-5 miles) almost every day during the week with frequent runs (8-10 miles) on the weekends. I loved everything about them . . . until . . . today I ran 10 miles on the AT in PA (rocky as you all know) and when I got home I noticed that the tread in the heel had delaminated from the rest of the shoe and formed a nice little air bubble. I am going to return them and even though this shoe has many great features I can't recommend them because of that one fatal flaw.

Comments about Vasque Velocity VST Gore-Tex XCR Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I've had these for about 3 months, and after wearing them around town locally and a week on roads and trails in Utah and Idaho, I'm going to have to bring them back. They are the right size and feel for my average size 11 feet, but I've never had a pair of shoes slaughter my toes like these do. At first I thought they just needed a bit of breaking in, but after all this time, they still aren't anywhere near comfy. In addition (and this is not a deal breaker, but I thought I'd point this out) the plastic mesh squeaks like a rusty door hinge.
Yes, they are lightweight, and yes, I could probably walk up walls with the killer traction, but the cons definitely outweigh the pros for me. Too bad. Back to Montrail's for me.

Comments about Vasque Velocity VST Gore-Tex XCR Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I can attest to the poor construction comment on the other review. The heel separates from the midsole and causes an air bubble. You can literally hear it as your run squishing out the air. The sides have also started to blow out on me.
However, the shoes have held up and are relatively comfortable. They've been through training up to a 50k and the 50k and have given my plenty of support for my overpronation. They are a bit on the heavy side but manageable.
The forefoot/toebox is a little thin as well. It doesn't offer a lot of protection against direct rock hits. Some good insoles helps a lot in that area though.
Overall, they've held up but I wouldn't buy another pair.

Like it really pretty well so far. Loves the snow. Feet stayed warm in 5hrs in 6" snow wearing gaitors. Breaths as well as any gortex shoe...
