Comments about Sierra Designs Hurricane HP Rain Pants - Men's Short:
I just spent the weekend backpacking in the Smokey Mountains. It was a short trip in to the camp ground and out the next day, raining both ways. These pants delivered and kept my legs and hiking pants dry. They have one pocket and I found myself at one point, wishing for another one. They are well made and I only wish I had had the rain jacket that complimented these pants.

Comments about Sierra Designs Hurricane HP Rain Pants - Men's Short:
These are great pants, especially for the price. I wore these for a 5-day all-outdoor tactical course this past spring. Seattle weather being what it is, I was lying, kneeling, sitting, and crouching in 2" of standing water and fine gravel for the entire 5 days; the pants held up very well, continue to be serviceable, and I was totally dry by the end of the week.
The velcro tabs for the leg openings have held up well over the past year, and the leg opening zippers are of a long enough length to be able to slip in and out of the pants with ease, even with 8" rise boots.
The only con I can come up with for these pants, is I'd prefer to see more external pockets of various sizes for gear. The existing pocket is ample and streamlined, but I'd like to see it with a velcro flap in addition to the current zipper to deflect more water.
1.5" belt loops would be helpful as well.

I am about 5' 10" and these are a perfect fit with boots. they are extremely well engineered, come with a stuff sack if you prefer that over the cargo pocket on the pants (packs a little smaller in the sack) and weighs in at 6oz.
Love these pant material and fit!

Comments about Sierra Designs Hurricane HP Rain Pants - Men's Short:
I bought these for my wet cycle commutes and they seemed long enough, but when I ride, the bottom is wide and thin and ends up riding up and also getting in the way of the chain - hence, in rain, socks end up getting wet. Also, it would have been nice if the side zippers went farther up, as it is still a bit difficult to get over boots.

You get what you pay for. Poly shell, doesn't breathe; but it's good enough. I'd probably recommend to a friend.

Comments about Sierra Designs Hurricane HP Rain Pants - Men's Short:
I bought these pants because I bike to work about three miles a day, be it rain, shine, or four inches of snow-caked ice. I thought they would be perfect for the crazy schitzo weather of Ohio, and they do perform quite well. They are lightweight, come with a little bag to store in my pack when I change out of them at work, and they certainly will take all but the worst mud and rainfall. My only real issue with them is that I expected them to be way looser; I'm on the smaller end of size Large, usually, and these pants are really slim-cut. I could wear them over shorts or light pants, but they always felt taut and I was worried that the seams would bust while I was riding. I'm sure I will return them soon, and I will try on the size up, but if they are still cut as slim-legged, I doubt they would be much better.

Comments about Sierra Designs Hurricane HP Rain Pants - Men's Short:
I bought these pants mainly for wearing around the city, and for that they are perfect. I've only used them a few times, but they've never leaked at all. The material is quite thin though, so I wouldn't expect them to stand up to rigorous backcountry use.

Comments about Sierra Designs Hurricane HP Rain Pants - Men's Short:
I recently went on a two week long expedition to the Chugach mountain range in southern Alaska. Anticipating wet weather and lots of sitting in the snow, I purchased these pants.
On the first day that I wore them, I sat on the ground and immediately ripped the pants on a rock. I shifted my position and they tore again, right at the seat. For the remainder of the expedition I was forced to wear the pants backwards to allow me to sit down without getting soaked.
While the material blocked moisture excellently and the pants were extremely lightweight, it is impossible for me to rate this product highly simply because of the flimsiness of the material.
