I cycle commute 16 miles all winter and needed warm and waterproof covering for my feet. These are very lightweight, warm, and make my feet feel like they are wrapped in pillows, but without the bulk. Wet snow can get into boot from top if opening is not covered. Very comfortable, breathable, and warm (I was able to go down to 0 degrees F with no problem). I didn't do many winter hikes, but the boots were quite comfortable for average urban winter walking.
