Comments about Primus EtaPower EF Trail Stove:

This stove boils water super fast and uses very little fuel to do so. I've used the same canister of fuel for several multi-day camping trips and am still waiting to use a new canister. It is very stable, and the wind screen does an excellent job of keeping the wind out. The ignition switch is great but on one trip sand got into it and caused it to stop working but after blowing it out it worked again. It is a little bulky to pack but it makes up for it by not needing extra fuel canisters.

Comments about Primus EtaPower EF Trail Stove:

Just purchased the EF version of this stove and spent 5 days in Yellowstone. Overall I loved the stove. Boils water as fast as my buddy's new Jetboil and is much more versatile. The insulated pouch is a great addition. We were able to get rice dishes half done on the stove, drop them into the pouch and they finished off perfectly - a big fuel and time savings. This allowed us to get started on other dishes while the one in the pouch finished cooking. A great addition...I would recommend this addition to the trail version listed here...I saw it on [...] for about $12... Also, I loved not having the fuel source away from under the stove - it allows the stove and pots to set very close to the ground - a great attribute on even slightly uneven ground. My buddy succeeded in knocking over his Jetboil full of hot water...what a mess. Now for the downside...I used my Outback Oven with thia stove and it worked perfectly (cobbler, cornbread, pizza, brownies, etc)...EXCEPT, it melted the plastic parts of Peizo switch located along the base of the stove. I removed the windscreen to use the Oven and there was just too much heat for the plastic parts of this switch. I looked at using the Oven with the Primus windscreen in place, but it looked like it might direct too much heat to the edges of the Outback Oven pan and, since the damage was done, I didn't want to take a chance on burning my brownies!! Now that I am home, I will give it a try to see if it will work with the windscreen in place. If not, I will figure out some sort of shield to protect the switch - an idea I have also forwarded onto Primus.Another minor complaint - we caught trout to eat and tried frying them...the lid/frying pan that came with the set is so small that it was not really workable...I used the bottom of my Outback oven and worked fine except the heat is so intense at the middle of the pan. I tried to use the head deflector from the Oven without the wire metal risers, but the deflector worked too well and the pan would not heat up. However, the central source of high heat probably a criticism of just about any backpack stove. Maybe I just need to catch smaller fish!!Overall, the stove performed great and Primus has already sent me a new ignitor (great service!!). I would recommend this stove to anyone that wants something more than a water boiler...the additional weight was a welcome trade-off to the versatility of this stove. A KEEPER!!

Comments about Primus EtaPower EF Trail Stove:

Awesome cook kit for kayak camping! The insulated zippered storage case will keep the 2.1 Liter pot of rice or vegetables warm while you cook other food in the fry pan. The inside cover of the storage case has a zippered storage to hold a repair tool, extra piezoelectric igniter and some scotchbright cleaning pads. Everything nestles well (except fuel) with room for a few extra items like camp soap, hand sanitizer, extra matches and a small cleaning brush. I use a SHAM WOW as the protective layer because it doubles as a dry towel for dish washing. There is even room for an extra small flux ring fry pan between the wind screen and 2.1 Liter pot. I modified the wind screen to accommodate the extra fry pan. The stove lights best with just a whisper of gas coming out, then increase gas to cooking level. As others have said, the flame is easy to control and it makes lots of efficient heat to rapidly boil water.

Comments about Primus EtaPower EF Trail Stove:

Maybe it's just my unit but it doesn't seem to light easily. Unlike my jetboil, the spark from the igniter never catches on first try. Plus, it doesn't distribute the heat evenly as I would prefer. I love the fact, I don't have to buy separate pots and pans. My unit came with a a solid fabric storage bag and not the "mesh". Very compact and no clanging like the REI set I used to own.

This stove is amazing! It ignites instantly, even @ 12,000 ft plus altitude and adjusts from an extremely low flame, to a roar, with ease. I've never boiled water this fast and with such an efficient fuel comsumption before. Plus, the insulted case actually works; at ~40 degrees f, our rice pilaf was still warm after we cooked our trout. The set came with a 2.1 pot and I purchased a 1.7 to nest inside. Great stove- Great stable design.

Comments about Primus EtaPower EF Trail Stove:

I like this stove a lot. Prior to this I had the Jetboil GCS. That was a decent stove, but I had a few problems with it. [...] This stove is about the same size as the Jetboil GCS. The stove is simple to set up and use. It seems to be more efficient and also boils water faster. Probably due to the built-in windscreen. The pan has a non-stick coating which is nice for now, but I worry about its longevity. The set comes with a felt-like liner to protect the non-stick surface so you can pack the parts inside the pan without fear of scratching it. It works, but you still need to be carefull with how things are placed. Would like to see something that offers better protection like a platic bowl that nests inside the pan but I haven't found that yet. I like the metal lid versus Jetboils flexible plastic lid which was hard to secure to the top of the pan. All in all, a very good product.
