Comments about White Sierra Teton Convertible Trail Pants - Women's Petite - Special Buy:
Bought these for a 10 day trek through the Peruvian Andes from Choquequirao to Machu Picchu. Trek trail went through various terrain and environments from arid desert slopes to cloud forest/rain forests and alpine passes.
These pants fit well...zipper did not chaff. side pockets were fantastic...much better than other trekking pants I brought. The lighter color was harder to keep clean and didn't wash well. But the darker color was great.
Fit is good for my shape...waist a bit smaller, but ample leg room for a gal with real gams! Very comfortable..able to move and climb easily in these.

Comments about White Sierra Teton Convertible Trail Pants - Women's Petite - Special Buy:
I purchased this pants for hiking and taking my dog out in the hot California weather for search and rescue training. The material is really thin, and feels flimsy. The button on the pants were loose, or the thread catches to it when you're taking it off/on. It's so-so quality, and I kept it since I got it on sale with an additional discount. However, I've rolled it up as a pair of emergency pants, and no longer use it for serious hiking/trail work.

Comments about White Sierra Teton Convertible Trail Pants - Women's Petite - Special Buy:
To all the women who complained that this is short the description states "PETITE".
I am 5"3 & these pants inseam is 29" which is the perfect length for me. I am curvy & these have plenty of room for my big butt while the waist fits perfectly without belt.
So if for a "stick"/Straight figure, these might look big.
The material is thin but breathes, zippers can be opened for more ventilation.
Zippers @ankles have small pulls which are flimsy but I don't remove the legs.

These are heading back. Roomy may be one word for it, but poor design & laziness could be others. My husband had the mens version of these pants, and wanted another pair, I thought I should get another convertable pair myself & ordered the womens pants. The only difference between the two pants is that they cut the womens waist a little differently & they're shorter. The leg width is identical the whole way down the pant, making it appear that I was wearing my husbands clothes. Now, I understand that functional doesn't always equal fashionable, but the REI convertable pants look nice enough and are very functional. Lastly, even though I would probably be ok wearing these as wide leg pants, there is NO way I would be wearing them as shorts. I'm 5'4 and taking the legs off these makes my petite frame look like I've thrown on a box. A little more thought should have gone into the design of these pants. You can't put a pink tag on an item and call them womens pants (I'm not making that up, their is a big pink tag saying womens - it's how I was able to tell which pair to try on). I'll be going back to the REI brand.

I was looking for some pants to take on my trip to Cambodia and Vietnam this November. These pants seem to fit the bill. I am 5 feet 4 inches, 154 pounds. I got the size large in all three colors. I really liked the fabric. However, when I tried one pair on and looked in the mirror I knew they had to go back. They looked like clown pants. Too wide and tapered at the bottom. I returned them today. I replaced them with ex officio nomad pants. Although more expensive they were way more flattering. Luckily there is an REI store nearby where I live so I could see what they had in person.

Though this product is for Petite ladies, it does not fit me as what a petite rip off that I used to get from REI does. The leg wide is simply too wide. I am 5.1 feet and 110lbs. The waist fits well and i don't need the belt which feels awkward. And I love the pockets size but just felt the overall leg width too wide for my legs. The short inseam may also be too long for someone my build. It's sad that short people struggle to find good fitting trekking pants (at least for me!). I tried Youth sizes but the hip just don't feel right. Perhaps the manufacturers should take note! Really love the old REI petite rip off that I bought years ago. Unfortunately, no good pair seems to be able to replace that!

Comments about White Sierra Teton Convertible Trail Pants - Women's Petite - Special Buy:
Had to return these pants on the day I got them. They were too short even for my 5'4 height. Also unless you are very curved, then these pants are not for you. The pant legs are cut extra wide through the thigh area, and slightly tapered from knee to ankle. It was comfortable to wear, but the fit is very unflattering. The material was soft to the touch, but very thin so not sure how it will hold up over time.

Comments about White Sierra Teton Convertible Trail Pants - Women's Petite - Special Buy:
Pants fit me well. I'm 5'2", 155, pear shaped and the larges fit great. Button fell off one pair within a week and I think I'll have to replace the second one soon. However, these are the most comfortable convertible pants that I have ever worn. Lenght is great, and there is plenty of room in the seat and thighs for me. Typically I don't find good fits for my shape.
