Comments about White Sierra Teton Convertible Trail Pants - Women's - Special Buy:
I have had poor luck with convertible pants in the past. The nylon ones seem to conduct heat (and cold). I have been using hospital scrubs for hiking for sun and bug protection, my main reason for wearing pants in my area.
When I first got them I was surprized at how baggy/comfy they are and how nice they looked. I origionally had not intended to use these hiking but decided on trying them out for some hot weather geocaching.
It was in the 90's here and having them cover my legs did not make them any hotter, I was actually more comfortable. I tromped through light undergrowth without the vegatation scratching my skin. Also the bugs were bad and I could not find my spray, I guess I forgot it. I don't like spray anyway, the pants were much more comfortable than slimy spray.
I had some royal robbins convertable pants in the past but like another poster, they crept up and gave me wedgies. I have not worn them since. These ones fit me great. The nice thing is I think they are going to fit through a variety of sizes, so gaining and losing a few pounds won't matter.
I was looking forward to zipping off the pantlegs because I have never had a convertable pant where that helped any. I didn't need to do that, even though it was 90, it was shady and breezy. I don't know how they would perform in hotter weather but I will get my chance latter on during summer. I think because they are very loose and the zipper creates a hoop effect there is more air movement than other pants.
I also wear loose fitting shirts in the sun and heat and the cut of the pants blends in well. The pockets performed well, I had a pocket full of heavy stuff and it didn't flop about. I'm glad the large fit because the extra large would have been too long. It would be nice if they came with different inseams.

The pants are comfortable and baggy throughout but the waist is a little tight. I wear a size 4 and bought a small. They fit throughout the legs, but are only just big enough in the waist.

I was so excited to get these pants, but, once I tried them on, I realized that I would have to be of hobbit size to wear them. I'm 5'10" and these were beyond being short. They felt really great, lightweight, but, too too short.

Just got back from an 8 day backpack in the Grand Canyon, and these pants were awesome. They survived daily scrapes with sandstone, limestone, granite, cactus, etc., etc. while climbing, rappelling, and hiking. My backpack didn't survive, but these pants did!

These pants fit great, are comfortable and great light weight material. I didnt find them "itchy" at the zip off point, as did a previous reviewer. You just need to make sure that the little fabric flap located on the inside of the pant leg is laying flat over the zipper after you unszip the leg.......no problem!

I wish these pants didn't feel scratchy where the zipper converts these into shorts. There is just not enough fabric to cover the zipper completely and I know I have to return these pants because it will drive me crazy on a trip! It is unfortunate because otherwise the nylon actually feels really soft, they are very lightweight, and the pockets are great. They fit true to size and look cute for a hiking pant. Ah well!

FINALLY--a pair of hiking pants designed for those of us well endowed with hips, thighs, and butt! I love the freedom of movement to be able to reach my leg up to large rocks as in a far climb, and sit on a log without my legs looking like stuffed sausages. And zipping off to shorts allows adequate crotch aeration. I do have a length issue, however, due to my short legs. It would be great if these pants came in 3 lengths--short, average, tall. Otherwise, I LOVE these pants for hiking and traveling.

I hiked in these this summer in Glacier and this fall in the NC mountains....comfy pants that convert easily to shorts. Left lower pant leg has a pocket that stores the right leg panel once both legs are removed when converting to shorts...a nice plus. I've worn a size 4 in REI pants in the past; this size small fits well.

We camp & hike over the weekends and these pants are very comfortable. Had no issues with them.
Comments about White Sierra Teton Convertible Trail Pants - Women's - Special Buy:
I was dismayed to discover on my first hike with these pants that they are not breathable! Whoever heard of hiking pants that don't breathe? Unlike my other hiking pants of a different brand, these pants trapped my body heat against my legs. 30 minutes from the trailhead I had sweat running down my legs, and it wasn't even a warm day! I came home, washed the pants, and tried again on another hike. Same result. This time I had brought along my other hiking pants and as soon as I changed I noticed the difference. These pants were a dismal failure and I'll be taking them back.
