Comments about Stohlquist TowMOTION PFD:
for three yrs i've been looking for a new paddling pfd. i've looked high and low. my rei dividend check arrived recently and back to the looking i went. the search is over people, the search is over. this is one of the best pfds on the market in the world of paddling. its incredibly lightweight. after picking up the box on the front porch i thought my order would be a split shipment and didn't contain the pfd. that's how light it is. it fits like a glove. it has more adjustment points than any i've seen before. it has three pockets on the front that can hold everything you could want from safety gear like a whistle, radio, flares, gps, food, camera, etc. note that the pfd sent is the new version, not the one shown on this site. the only difference is the zippered pocket on the front left. the new, improved version is a semi hardshelled zippered pocket as seen on the manufacturer's website. it's perfect for a small radio or gps and probably provides some crush protection over the previous version. it's also got a great built-in tow belt channel for towing the wearer in or out of a boat. the pfd also has two 4-way lash tabs - one on the front and one on the back. the description states one. sizing - i bought a L/XL because i measured my chest at 40". that's on the low end of the L/XL sizing chart. although this size adjusts perfectly to my body, i believe a S/M would have worked just fine, as well. if you're looking for a highly technical paddling pfd that is lightweight and fits like a glove, the search is over. buy this one!

Comments about Stohlquist TowMOTION PFD:
As a lifeguard and boating instructor at summer camps my personal PFD is arguably the most important piece of equipment I being to my job, and I have no complaints about this one. It's been my only source of flotation down a river only 6" deep - it got plenty banged up, but never ripped, even after two years of punishment. The range of motion is incredible, except for the obvious drag factor, I can still swim at full power if the situation calls for it. It's adequately adjustable, at least within its size; you can't make a medium fit someone who needs a large, for example.
