The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Comments about REI Waist Stash:

REI products to me are often associated with quality. We took this to Europe on our last trip and by the 2nd day I noticed the waist belt starting to come undone from the pouch. By that evening, while we were walking about, the strap completely came off. NOT a secure money belt by any means.

My friend and I bought these just before going on a month long backpacking trip in Europe. On the first day of our trip my friend's broke. The waist band ripped off the main pouch. Just days later mine broke in the exact same location. VERY POOR CONSTRUCTION. I would not recommend storing your valuables in this money belt.

I bought this before I moved to Guyane and used her on a daily basis as my wallet (as well as for my travels through Suriname and the Carib). She held up just fine holding my keys, passport, bank card, and money. Eventually my keys DID end up creating a small tear at the seam, but with some minor stitching she was back to use.

Positives: light weight, machine washable, comfortable (once you get use to her)

Negatives: Minor repairs were needed after just a few months, stick to shorts or pants when wearing

**You get what you pay for. I'm a world traveler on a budget and don't mind stitching up my goods, but others may not feel the same!
