Comments about Keen Commuter Bike Sandals - Men's:
I purchased these based on the recommendations on this site. I use them to commute to work several times a week, about 10 miles each way. They work well, they're comfortable enough, and they are ok to walk in when off of the bike.
The toe is definitely too small on these, but the length is right on and I find the material very comfortable. The ease of pulling them on and off is a nice feature as well.

Comments about Keen Commuter Bike Sandals - Men's:
I really wanted these to work but they just didn't. I usually wear a size 11.5 running shoe so went with that size. They are long enough but are snug around the top of the toe and a little narrow - definitely order a 1/2 size larger if you have wider feet. The biggest problem though is the location of the cleat. The cleat attachment does allow for some adjustment (about 1.5 cm) but it's not possible to move the cleat far enough forward for proper placement. It's almost as if larger sizes were made larger by adding additional length at the toe, but the proper location of the cleat wasn't accounted for. Even with the cleat all the way forward, my foot clips to the pedal so that the ball of my foot is too far back, this leads to an awkward position of my foot on the pedal and jams my foot forward into the toe of the sandal whenever I ride at all hard. I think they would be OK for casual riding but are not appropriate for any hard riding or spinning classes (which is what I was going to use them for).

Comments about Keen Commuter Bike Sandals - Men's:
I have riddden probably 1500 miles on these since I bought them in April. I wear these almost all the time (I ride to work a lot) and they are a great balance between good on the bike and good to walk around in. I even rode the MS 150 this summer in mine - why not? They worked great!
Sure, other shoes would bike a little better, but these are still respectable (and certainly comfortable) and they are SO much better to walk around in than other shoes I've had.
For the commuting purpose (or just riding around) they are intended for, they are fantastic!
I'm not sure on the sizing as I had to buy the women's version. Guess there aren't enough size 7 men in the world for REI to stock shoes that small...

Comments about Keen Commuter Bike Sandals - Men's:
I can't account for some of the other reviewers' complaints: for riders with big feet, these may be the most comfortable bike footwear on the market. Compared to Sidi Mega shoes (designed for wide feet) I found these much more comfortable, roomier and especially easier on my (previously constantly crushed) toes. I wouldn't normally bother to review a product, but I want to encourage people to buy these so Keen keeps making them. Really - I was astonished.

Comments about Keen Commuter Bike Sandals - Men's:
These are my current favorite cycling shoe! They are the first shoe that I actually consider to be all purpose.
They certainly aren't a "racing" shoe, but are stiff enough for fairly aggressive riding, both road and mountain. I commute 10 miles, and use my commute as a training session, so I keep a strong pace.
The shoes aren't so stiff that they are hard to walk in, and the recession in the shoe is deep enough for Crank Brother's cleats to recess fully, meaning I can wear them all day long without clacking. I hear the cleat occasionally, if I step on a small stone or something, but in normal use they don't touch the ground.
They have traditional Keen comfort, but you will probably find them narrow if you are used to the normal Keens, which I find to be wider than average. For me that means regular Keens aren't wearable, but if your feet are wide enough that regular Keens are perfect, you'll probably find these too narrow.
I'm also unhappy that they don't come in sizes smaller than 8. I usually wear a size 8 Men's shoe, with sandal sizes between 7.5 and 8 depending on brand. But the Keen size 8 was enormous on me, and they don't even make a smaller size. I had to purchase the Women's version (which doesn't really bother me, they are both neutral colors), and even the Women's 8 is just barely close enough in size to work. A Women's 7.5, if it existed, would probably be just right for me.
All in all though, a very nice biking shoe. I've worn mine nearly every day since purchasing them the week they were released. I anticipate wearing them all through the summer and fall.

Comments about Keen Commuter Bike Sandals - Men's:
I've put 200 bike miles on these sandals so far, and used them about 30 more hours in spin class. I am a recreational cyclist, and a former commuter.
1. The ventilation is outstanding. My feet are cool and comfortable. Below 45 degrees F, my feet are very cold and could use some cover. That is the only bad point to these sandals -- and who expects a sandal to keep your feet warm?
2. They hold my feet firmly, but not too tight. Frankly, I hardly know they're there. I have not had any shoes which fit so well, so soon.
3. The soles are stiff and transmit power to the pedals as well as anyone could want.
4. Off the bike, the cleats still touch the ground, despite a valiant effort in the thick rubber sole. I still use them for my post-spin upper body workout at the gym, and I have no problem walking around when I'm on a ride. However, I would not wear these shoes if I was doing anything other than riding a bike that uses SPD pedals.
Not only would I recommend these to a friend, I bought some for my Father in-law, with whom I ride frequently. He loves them too.

Comments about Keen Commuter Bike Sandals - Men's:
Sandals are narrow (I found that Keen notes this on their site to acknowledge replies from other bicycle riders who have commented on narrow size). My feet are size 11, so I order sized 11.5 as Keen suggests, but shoe felt too snug all around. Lengthwise I probably need size 12, but widthwise I need wide size, which Keen currently does not make. Shimano's SPD sandle, which I have, provides better fit for me due to my wide feet, so I'll be returning the Keen's.

I do not buy wide shoes but these sandals make my feet feel huge. The are a little tight in width but really cut off the small toes. I lost feeling in my right foot after only seven miles of riding.

We just finished RAGBRAI and I had no trouble or discomfort over 7 days and nearly 500 miles.

Comments about Keen Commuter Bike Sandals - Men's:
I have other Keen shoes that I love. Like those, the Commuter is well constructed. I really like the toe cap, unlike sandals from Shimano or Lake. Unfortunately, the shoe is far too narrow for me to wear comfortably. If I had my fifth metatarsals removed, it would be perfect. Don't think that because other Keen shoes fit you that the Commuter will. Try before you buy.
