I bought this recently and am thrilled. It holds my 20 oz. water bottle and has some insulation, plus has a large pocket and two small ones, yet is quite small overall and lightweight. It is perfect for my walking on the trails needs.

I have a .5L hand-bottle carrier and a hydration pack, but I had not found a single bottle carrier for my most-common workouts of about an hour. Others either bounced, or required 2 hands to pull & replace bottle. This, however, did the trick. The 2 adjustable buckles in front draw the belt tight with one pull on each. I can adjust it on the run as the bottle gets empty, if it starts to bounce. I can pull, drink and replace with one hand. It will hold a silicone-nipple .75L bottle, too, for easier sipping. To make it a 1-hander, I don't use the little lock-cord that holds the bottle in the pocket -- weight does that, anyway. This is lighter than the double-shot (I'd switch the load to my back via hyd. pack if I needed that much fluid!), carries my phone & small wallet in a zipped pocket, an energy bar in an open, easy-to-grab pocket. Great product.

I've run with this pack 20 or so times now. Maybe the buckle was revised, but I haven't had any problems with the belt and buckle system that have been mentioned in other reviews.
I find this pack is nice and cool, carries it's bottle well and securely, and is easy to get the bottle in and out of. The pocket is a great size for a wallet, phone, etc. Overall I'd say a good value.
No cons to speak of.

Spend most time trail running in Nor Cal, fairly competitive runner and find this product to be useful on those runs where I don't think I will need water or food but want to bring something just in case. The bottle that comes with it is cheap but you are not married to it. Have a 34 inch waist and have about another 8-10 inches of room on EACH strap so I am unsure what one of the earlier reviewers was referring to about the the waist being slight on this pack.

I wanted a fanny pack that I could put my keys in, carry dog treats (a decent supply for my furry friends and their friends!), as well as hold a water bottle for our hikes and this is exactly what I wanted. It fits around my waist while wearing a winter coat (women's medium for size comparisons) but should adjust nicely for shorts weather. There's a clip for my keys as well, which is nice when I don't have pockets. The zipper extends around the side of the pouch, giving you a great deal of space/access to treats, but will zip up nicely to keep out greedy noses. The water bottle holds exactly the amount I want for a 1-2 hour hike, and has a wide enough opening to put in ice if desired. When not carrying water bottles, the space for the bottle holds three tenis balls (great if you don't need the bottle, and reason to consider the dobule pack if you want both!); the opening in the side for ventilation is big enough that it can function as a chuck-it carrier (only one ball can be stored that way, though). The twist up cap on the bottle itself is a little awkward until you figure it out, but doesn't leak at all, which is great when throwing it into the back seat of the car. The elastic that is supposed to hold the water bottle in the pack broke the second time I used it, but I don't find that it has affected performance at all. I would totally recommend this to dog park people and happy hikers everywhere!

THis is a great waist pack. I can get a 32oz SIGG aluminum bottle in it, as well as my IPhone, keys, and a energy bar. The only negative is that the waist strap could stand to be a little longer. I have a 38" waist and have to let the strap all the way out to buckle it. (Good reason to go on a diet.)

Took this out today for a two hour hard hike/run on a mountain ridge.
Good price, but basic.
The top of the bottle seems to drip from where the top screws onto the bottle body (not at the nozzle) unless you really crank it on tight. Maybe we just got a dud bottle--did anyone else have this happen?
Fear not, the belt is plenty long enough, with much extra length after tightening--they must have lengthened this after the earlier reviews. However, the belt is narrow width, so it seems to cut into the waist if you really load down this pack.
Key clip is a nice feature.
Overall, average quality, no major problems, but generally we all expect better from REI gear.

I liked it but when I got it I found that the belt was too short, and I have a 35" waist. It is not like I have a 50" waist !!!! I thought maybe I ordered the wrong size but there is only one size. I even returned it to the store to see if I could even get a larger belt --- no luck. Other manufacturers at the store had longer belts, go figure. POOR BELT DESIGN. A lot of hassle for nothing.
