Comments about Solio Magnesium Solar Charger:
A few years back I became really interested in solar gadgets and actually purchased a Solio Classic when it first came out. I loved the Solio... so much that after 2 years of taking it along with me I travel, camp, hike, etc.... it finally met it's end sadly.
I came back to REI to get another Solio and decided to try out the Magnesium instead since it's battery is bigger and uses iGo tips. It used to be more difficult getting tips for my last Solio, but thankfully iGo is everywhere.
My results have been fantastic over the last month of use. So far the Magnesium has been with me on a week long camping trip and also several business trips across the US without any issues. It came with a tip for my Blackberry and also charges up these neat AA USB batteries I have for my Garmin. It's worked on all of the devices I have tried so far and have even impressed my friends by charging up their dead cell phones and iPods, since I keep the Solio in the window near my desk at work.
Guess if I had to say that there is a "con" that it would be that it does take a while to charge in the sun. Thankfully it also comes with a wall charger. Not as green, but very convenient before a long trip.
I do love this little green gadget and have already recommended it to several friends who have went to REI to get their own!

Comments about Solio Magnesium Solar Charger:
I was out in the backcountry hiking a few weeks ago when I needed to boost my GPS unit....The magnesium came in very handy...as a matter of fact it was a real life saver because (as much a I hate to admit it) I WAS LOST. I was able to power up my magelan gps unit just enough to get a handle on where I was going. I would recommend this product to anyone who uses serious survival gear.

Comments about Solio Magnesium Solar Charger:
i bought this gizmo for a 10 month international wilderness trip and it died 3 weeks into the trip....I opened it up for a possible repair and problem is a funny sized battery [...]...Its a great idea but 3 weeks out and being gone for 10 months i was just a major aggravation and a total waste of money....I fear way too late for warranty or refund...
Service and delivery comments:
Initially when i bought unit i need differing I-Go adaptors for a pretty generic type cellphone and camera.
I contacted company with model numbers of equipment and first response i got was, "gee I don't know why don't you buy them and try them out to see if they fit"....
Green is good we all agree but some firms appear to have a nice concept that is just not ready for mass production and quality control.

Comments about Solio Magnesium Solar Charger:
Received as a Birthday gift. I love this solar charger! I also liked that this edition (the magnesium) came with all the common charging adapters. I've been leaving this in the sun in my kitchen all day during the day and then at the end of the night I plug in my iPhone and charge it up. Works very, very well. It's too cold to get outside for some backpacking to field test it but I'm very pleased so far.
