Don't listen to the other reviews... this is a great freeze dried meal. It tastes like real cheese (not like velveeta). Lots of flavor. Not too salty. I followed the directions and the noodles were fully cooked (don't know what the other guy's problem was). Giving it 4 stars because I'd prefer more veggies-- this had only a few peas.

Took this meal with me on a backpacking trip, really wanted to like it. The cheese flavor wasn't good, the peas were an awful addition.
All the components of this meal I like, but somehow, when all together, this was a huge disappointment.

I don't get the other reviews... I've tried MJF's meals again and again (the only thing I used to bring) and I find more often than not, they just don't come out right. I originally began buying these as I'm an all-natural organic type of guy. That said, I don't think I'll buy them ever again.
I just got back from a 4 day trip and decided to give this one a shot. Like so many others of hers I've had, the noodles never come out fully cooked. Yes, I used enough water (I've had probably a dozen of these total, fyi), yes, it was fully boiled, and yes, I let it sit long enough (and longer) but I always seem to get pasta that's slightly crunchy on one side. The flavor of the watery sauce, not bad. If it was thicker and the pasta actually cooked, it might be as good as others find.
Also, they have no right calling this a casserole, it's just mac and cheese and some peas. The peas, omg, I couldn't eat more than a few as they were hardly edible.
At a friend's advice, I took along a new brand that is not all natural let alone organic and it was WAY better. Sorry MJF, I wanted to love your stuff but I've become disgusted by the thought of your meals.
I've tried probably 6 different flavors and 3/4 were like this final experience for me. I ate her chilimac once and it was similarly not fully re-cooked and I had hours of gas all night long.

I bought this meal after scouring every vegetarian freeze dried meal's nutrition label at my local REI to find something that was lower in sodium and had a somewhat balanced carbs/protein/fat ratio for a bike camping trip.
This meal had one of the lowest sodium percentages of all of the meals I saw, regardless of brand. The sauce reminded me of boxed mac-n-cheese "sauce" but the peas were a good addition and it cooked up fairly quickly. I ate it for dinner twice in one trip and it was probably the best overall among the meals I chose. Not super flavorful, but also not packed with sodium.
It's worth mentioning that you can burn the MJF bags in your campfire after you're done eating them. They are not resealable and are therefore unsuitable as a pack-out bag. They are easy to tear, so you can reach the bottom of the bag without a longer spoon.
Quick cooking + vegan/vegetarian organic + somewhat nutritious + burnable bag = I will be buying MJF meals again.

I brought along several different brands and varieties of camp food on an adventure motorcycle trip through Alaska, and this was consistently better than any others. The flavor, texture, and nutritional value was top notch. I'm planning another ride and I will surely be bringing along plenty of Mary Jane's
