Comments about REI Adventure Dog Dream Bed - Medium:

My dog and I are long-time companions. I take him with me everywhere and that includes both day and overnight backpacking (and mountain biking) trips.

In finding the optimum padding for him to sleep on at night I have tried several alternatives. But all except this product had a major shortcoming such as: Too heavy, Too bulky, Too small, Too fragile, etc.

This product is excellent. The salesman said it was self inflating. I find that two or three puffs of air are helpful in getting it to expand to its maximum cushioning. I like the fact that the thermarest pad is contained within a tough, nylon and fake fur, shell that can be removed and washed. I also like that the entire unit rolls up fairly compactly and is very lightweight - no problems for either me or the dog to carry.

I got the medium size and it seems to fit even Duncan who is a pretty large dog (85+ lbs). I looked at the next size up and it was just too bulky and heavy for me to easily hike with. But as a product, if your dog needs the size, it would be fine.
