The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Biscuits and Gravy - 2 Servings:
This product is NOT Biscuits and Country Gravy it's more like a big pot of fake gravy and under cooked dumplings. If you want some better Biscuits and Country Gravy go to your grocery store and pick up a box of the name brand biscuit mix and a packet of gravy mix and cook the biscuits in a dutch oven you will be much happier.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Biscuits and Gravy - 2 Servings:
These require two containers to make, one to mix up the dough and another to cook the gravy/biscuit mix (sticky mess to clean later). I cooked it in higher altitude (8ooo') so that might have affected the outcome, but the biscuit dough did not cook evenly and some of it ended up quite raw. Overall it was a big gooey concoction but being a hot meal on a cold morning it was palatable.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Biscuits and Gravy - 2 Servings:
The gravy taste was there but w/ the consistency of clam chowder. Doughy blobs of biscuit taste bad & the texture is even worse.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Biscuits and Gravy - 2 Servings:
It's more like dumplings than biscuits. The gravy had an off, sour taste to it. It didn't take long to prepare, but requires a skillet or pan to cook it in. It doesn't have a lot of flavor.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Biscuits and Gravy - 2 Servings:
Taste - the taste was OK. It was a simple country gravy with a good biscuit taste.
Consistency - getting the biscuit edges to not have the consistency of under-cooked biscuits (like dough) proved to be difficult.
Cooking - takes a very long time and more steps than most of these meals.
I will not have this again as there are too many meals that are much easier to prepare.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Biscuits and Gravy - 2 Servings:
You'll need a big bowl (24 Oz.) and a pot (24 oz.) in order to make this product, so this is not your typical boil water in a bag meal. Having said that, although not restaraunt quality, it's a nice change of pace. After 4 days on the trail, I find myself craving bread. This definitely fits the bill.
To prepare this meal, you'll mix the gravy mix in your pot with 16 oz of water. THEN, bring the water to a SLOW boil. While heating up the gravy, you'll mix 1/2 cup of water and the biscuit mix in a separate bowl. You could use the bag the product comes in to mix up the dough, but I'd recommend against it due to the difficulty in mixing it thoroughly.
With the gravy mix boiling slowly, you'll drop spoonfuls of dough into the gravy mix. Then, cover and keep at a low boil for 6 to 8 minutes. I've found that 8 to 9 minutes works a bit better. I think the key to preparing this meal is not trying to cook it too fast (keep the temps low).
Since the biscuits are cooked in fluid, they will be more like a cross between a biscuit and a dumpling. The gravy mix is a bit bland, but not terrible. Cleanup is a bit of a pain because the gravy mix will stick to the pan.

I love biscuits and gravy for breakfast! While these are not like what you would make at home, they were a real treat on the trail. Others have complained that its more like dumplings and gravy. Given how it is preapred, that is true. If you let it set long enough though, you can get a nice biscuit texture. We're going to try using our fire pot as a dutch oven next trip for the biscuits. The flavor is very good and the portions are filling. I recommend it as a nice change from eggs or cereal.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Biscuits and Gravy - 2 Servings:
Very yummy! We ate it for dinner, but the biscuits are on the sweet side and would probably be better for breakfast.
It does take a little longer to prepare than the "pour boiling water in pouch and wait" meals, and it does use 2 containers, though we just avoided having an extra bowl to wash by using the bowl we mixed the dough in as one of our eating bowls. So what, there's a little uncooked dough left in there, you're backpacking!!!
The gravy was yummy. We accidentally added a little too much water to the biscuit dough, so it was a little too liquidy, but hey, even then it was still good. Unlike the Organic Spinach Putanesca from the same company the night before...
Good stuff.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Biscuits and Gravy - 2 Servings:
This definitely hits the spot on cold mornings. Of course its not as good as grandmas, but for freeze dried backpacking breakfast it surpassed my expectations. The one con, already mentioned by one reviewer, is that it is way too hearty to precede very strenuous activity like cycling. I have taken it on several backpacking trips and it has always done me right.

I've taken this on two backpacking trips up on the Superior Hiking Trail. When you are cold and hungry, note those two words, this meal is wonderful. Its basically a one pot (+ mixing bowl) meal and tastes great.
