The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Cat Eye Velo 8 CC-VL810 Bike Computer:
This bike computer is very accurate and I tested it out. I Map Quested the nearest store and looked at the estimated distance, and then I rode my bike there and checked the distance on my computer. The computer was within 0.1 of the estimated distance!
I've removed it from the bracket a lot and I haven't had any problems.
PROS:
1) The pace arrow that tells you if you're above or below your average speed.
2) Total trip time.
3) Fairly large screen compared to some other models in the same price range.
4) The price
CONS:
1) No LED backlight for night riding.
2) Settings are for 1 trip only, so you can't set it to multi=trip.
3) It uses a sticky strip to attach to the handlebars. I'd rather have it be a screw on bracket or something so that it's guaranteed not to fall of (although mine never has).

Service and delivery comments:
I select the Cat Eye Velo 8 Bike Computer as it has most of the functions of a more expensive bike computer. I was debating between this model and the wireless but found the cord only runs on the inside of the front fork and is not very noticable. I like the look and read-out on the product. This also has a feature by last bike computer did not have. It list the calories burned as one of the features. The only downside I found was the lettering is small and hard to read while you are riding fast but once you get used to it, you recognize the categories. For the price, design and features I am very happy with this product.

You can't get a better value than this cycle computer. Personally I don't need to pay [$] for a little computer to tell me that I am spinning my pedals fast.

Comments about Cat Eye Velo 8 CC-VL810 Bike Computer:
Let me start off by saying I really like Cat Eye computers and have used them for a few years. However, this Velo 8 computer is not a good product.
1st The installation instructions were just illustrations. I like a little text to go along with each illustration.
2nd the zip ties used to attach the sensor and computer are really weak. I must have snapped 4 of them just trying to tighten the computer down on the handlebar.
3rd after setting up the computer I discover that the sensor is bad so the computer won't display speed, mileage, etc. So I returned it for an upgrade.
My recommendation: spend a little bit more money and get a nicer computer. The Cat Eye Mity or the Strada are far nicer for just a bit more.

Comments about Cat Eye Velo 8 CC-VL810 Bike Computer:
In a world of overpriced toys, this is a great bargain! I've just crossed 600 miles on the odometer and have had 0 problesm. For [$] I know how far I've gone, how long I've been moving, how fast I'm going now, and what speed I'm averaging. I really don't need to know any more than that. I'm no mechanical genius but I got it installed with no problems.

Comments about Cat Eye Velo 8 CC-VL810 Bike Computer:
I wanted to get a simple computer that I could mount on my bike that would give me a better idea of how far and fast I was going than just looking at a map and a clock. The reviews seemed to indicate that the Velo 8 was exactly what I was looking for.
I was a little concerned about what I had read about the installation being difficult and the mounts being poor quality. When I received it and looked at the instructions, I had to ponder them a bit, especially the instructions for operating the computer, since they are almost entirely diagrams. I got it figured out pretty quickly though and now it's really easy to use.
I found that the strength of the zip ties is more than adequate for mounting the components to the bike; you would have to try really hard to break them when tightening them. Also, someone mentioned that they had to remove the battery to reset the settings, losing their odometer information. The Velo 8 has the ability to reset all its data except the odometer simply by holding the Mode button for 2 seconds.
Overall I'm satisfied with this product and can't wait to put it through its paces on the road!

Comments about Cat Eye Velo 8 CC-VL810 Bike Computer:
I was very disappointed with this product for the following reasons:
- The zip ties that came with it all broke when trying to fasten it to the bike. Had to buy additional ones in order to install it.
- The instructions for installation/setup are cryptic at best.
- Setting the different options is a pain in the rear. Not only are the instructions vague, you have to go through several button clicks (press a set button on the back of the unit; set the desired value, press the mode button, press the set button again)
- The calories burned are inaccurate. There is no way to set your age/weight, so it is a very rough guess at best.

Easy to mount and set up. Easy to read and seems very accurate. Don't buy it for the calorie counter, it seems like an estimate.

Comments about Cat Eye Velo 8 CC-VL810 Bike Computer:
The difference between the velo 5 and the velo 8 are a couple useful features and the price difference is only 5 dollars. Average speed and trip distance. Average speed is a really nice one to have, that alone is worth the extra 5 bucks. This is a really nice computer. What else do you need in a bike computer? A nicer dash board than a car? Is that really necessary?

Comments about Cat Eye Velo 8 CC-VL810 Bike Computer:
I have been using this on my Cannondale R500 for the last few years now. It has been working great, I bought it shortly after buying my bike. The only thing is that programming the clock is not very intuitive so for the first time the clocks changed I just remembered that it was an hour off then it was correct eventually. Then it changed again, I tried to figure it out and just made the time hours off. another downside is I accidentally flicked the magnet back and forth against the sensor and it said my top speed was 300+ MPH When I reset it I lost my total miles on my bike. A lifetime odometer would be nice. Overall it's a great product. It's really nice for pacing on long rides. I live in Portland, I'm gonna go get another one for my zoobomb. For [$] it's worth it to know these stats bombing down the west hills.5 stars, I can't Imagine expecting a better product for the price.
