Comments about OnGuard Bulldog Combination U-Lock:
Used the lock for about two weeks with no problems. Then, on day after class I was unable to get the sliding switch to release the lock, even with the correct combination. I was forced to have the lock ground off my bike so I could get it off the rack. The guy from campus parking did comment on how hard it was to cut the lock off....

Comments about OnGuard Bulldog Combination U-Lock:
I bought this specifically because I did not want a key lock. Like the above poster, it worked great for about 2 weeks. Then one day I could not open it. Tried and tried, thinking that I had forgotten the combo...then I got really frustrated and jammed it against the bike rack. Behold, it opened.
I still use this lock and now have the secret to opening the combo. If the company made the thumb release easier to open when the combo is correctly dialed, I could recommend, but for now go for the key lock.

Comments about OnGuard Bulldog Combination U-Lock:
The release lever got stuck on this. I thought I had forgotten the combination but then I read these two reviews and did the exact same thing. I banged the butt end of the lock on the ground and it just popped open. This is not cool at all, especially with such an expensive lock. It's even worse if your bike is locked up somewhere and it's -10F out. It's more than just an inconvenience.

Comments about OnGuard Bulldog Combination U-Lock:
This lock is a pain to open from day one. But today, it will not open at all. Made me 30 minutes late to work. I can deal with it being hard to open but now my bike is locked to a poll and I have no idea how I'm going to get it off. This product should be removed from REI inventory.

Comments about OnGuard Bulldog Combination U-Lock:
I have the same comments as the other users. After a few uses, the lock locks up and dialing the correct combination will not open it up. Banging it, twisting it, doing everything I could think of would not open the lock. Fortunately, I did not leave it on my bike and so I did not need to cut it off, I just threw it away. Get something else more reliable.

Comments about OnGuard Bulldog Combination U-Lock:
This lock was sticky from day one. Then I figured out that if I pushed the U and the lock parts together while trying to open it the release lever was easier to push to open the lock (not so easy to do, but it did the trick). As of today that is no longer the case! The lock is stuck on my beloved bike at my office and I am SO frustrated. [...] I have tried the bang-it-against-something method suggested by other reviewers with no luck! I'm still hoping to get it off . . . next stop for this lock is the REI return desk . . . even if I have to have the lock cut off of my bike! I am going to stick with my sturdy, but heavy Kryptonite New York U-Lock for now on!
