The Sunday Afternoons Sport hat is the cap for outdoor interests from running and rafting, to water sports and walking.

  • 4 in. crescent shaped brim extends around the head; as brim tapers above ears, a 5 in. rear neck veil begins, offering extended coverage
  • Water-resistant Supplex® nylon provides UPF 50 protection, holding the sun's rays at bay
  • CoolMax® polyester internal sweatband and mesh side panels allow ventilation and moisture release
  • Chinstrap with cord lock adds security for those blustery days
  • Features adjustable, pinch-clip nylon closure, floatable brim and a ponytail hole

    Sizing is as follows:
  • M fits head circumference 21- 22.75 inches or hat size 6 3/4 - 7 1/4
  • L fits head circumference 22.75 - 24 inches or hat size 7 1/4 - 7 3/4

      Now this is a hat!

      I've traveled all over the world with this hat and the single most frequent question I'm asked is, where can I buy one? (Actually that's the second most frequently asked question. The first is, "Can I have yours?")

      This hat is perfect in the sun, perfect in the rain, has excellent coverage, doesn't leave your head sweaty and is washable. You can throw this baby in the washing machine if you like. It holds it shape even when it's rolled and stuffed in a backpack.

      I've had two for 3 years now and the rim of my husband's is just starting to fade. But that's a testimont to how often it's worn.

      There's even a bit of a social club with these hats. Whenever we see someone else with one (or they see us) - especially if its overseas - we just gotta stop and say, "Hey, where'd you get yours?"

        I've taken this hat to hike Yosemite, safari in Africa, and climb Kilimanjaro. It's also been on plenty of local trips to the park and beach. It's comfortable and I love having the pony tail opening when my hair get lots.

        My only complaint is that the material used to stiffen the brim doesn't fold well. Over time, visible creases appear all over the brim after washes and when the hat gets crushed in suitcases. Just an aesthetic issue, but sure wish the hat was more crushable.

          In sunny southern Nevada sunglasses are not enough - sun gets to your eyes from the sides and top... Regular hats were helping with blocking rays from the top only, caused my head to sweat excessively and were frequently blown off my head by wind gusts. This hat protects from the sides and is exceptionally light and breathable, so sweating is no longer a problem. Strap holds the hat in place in windy conditions and lets me hang it on my back when I get inside for a while - heavier hats give me choking sensation in similar situation, but this one is so light I can barely feel it. I was afraid that neck veil will be causing additional sweating on the back of my neck, but it did not happen. My only wish is that REI had it in more colors...

                For several years I have been looking for good protection from the sun as I have a nursery and am in the sun alot...Having skin cancer I had to find great coverage..This is absolutely the best I have found, especially with the light weight and the option of the neck protection...Adjusts instantly to head size and hair style of the day...Have taken it to many countries and will buy another when this is worn out.
