We mingled functionality with ecoSensitive® materials when constructing the sturdy REI Slickrock shorts.

Plaited fabric blends the soft, breathable elements of organic cotton on the outside with smooth and quick-drying recycled polyester on the inside
Organic cotton is grown without the use of toxic pesticides
Use of recycled PET polyester helps reduce oil consumption and air emissions
Plenty of storage in 2 front pockets, right hip key pocket, 2 cargo pockets with mesh sides and 2 back pockets

Great all-around shorts and easily my favorite of the summer. Waistband is super comfy. Love the pockets. Wear them every change I get.

Some gripes:

The off-set pockets would be a nicer feature if they added some stretch to the fabric to use for climbing. A gusseted crotch would be a good addition as well.

Also, the ventilation for the pockets are fully on the outside so they don't actually cool the wearer. Adding some sort of vents on the inside of the pocket through to the legs, even just a couple of eye-holes, would make sense and make the vents functional rather than extraneous.

These are my favorite shorts....wish they came in different colors. The website colors vs. reality are VERY off. So off that I was sure that my shorts had been mislabeled. Took them to REI in Austin and confirmed the colors. A simple tan color would be great (if real Bronze looked like the web pic!). The discontinued Soil color is my favorite. New Colors...awesome wear and unlike my other shorts...don't need ironing!!!! Perfect right out of the dryer (I have three pairs)

These are the best shorts I have bought in years. Member since 1997 - probably my best purchase since then. The waist is slightly small (I am a 36, bought a 38), but they are comfortably loose. They wear like board shorts. The only problem, really, is there might be too many pockets. I spent a few more seconds than I would have liked trying to find some loose cash the other day. Overall, great for every thing I do - I am going to order another pair today.

OK, so I am a woman promoting men's shorts. But too many women's shorts have inseams that are too short. So, I saw these shorts on sale and bought them. They are the most comfortable shorts I've ever owned. I can lounge around the house in them or backpack into the wilderness with them. I wish I could afford to buy enough to stockpile them in case they discontinue them.

These are the best shorts I've ever owned. I picked up a pair on vacation 2.5 yrs ago just because I needed shorts. I've ordered 2 additional pair since then and wear them everyday that I can. They are great for hiking or camping...dry quickly...breathable. The zipper pocket provides sense of security for valuables whereas most shorts only have velcro pockets. Still wearing the original pair like they're brand new.

I have two pairs and have had one of them on virtually all summer. Extremely comfortable in hot and humid weather. The pockets are great, no need for stuffed side pockets when items can be distributed and secured, especially the zipped cell pocket. If you don't like the Velcro back pockets the flap can be tucked into the pocket; problem solved. Great all around shorts.

Excellent shorts. Well made as far as I can tell. Lightweight, breathable, and quick drying. Lots of pockets, all are velcro except one zippered pocket above the right cargo pocket. Not a big fan of velcro pockets, but that is a minor drawback when you consider that these shorts are made from recycled plastic and organic cotton!

Love the shorts--very light weight, which is good because I am travelling the world and don't need the extra weight. However today the plastic button broke. It has not been abused, ironed, or otherwise mistreated, and the pants are less than 6 months old. So here I am in the middle of nowhere with a dead piece of essential gear. NOT GOOD.
