Comments about 2-N-1 Expandable Bike Stand:
The part of the stand that holds the bike fork is too narrow to use. I had to physically pry it open to fit my forks (of all shapes and sizes) and only then would it support the bike. I bought this to store 5 bikes in a small space, so physically bending down to pry the stand open is not a desirable feature. And once in, the bikes are difficult to get out because of the tension the stand puts on the fork. I will be returning this product and continuing my search for a bike stand that works for me.

Comments about 2-N-1 Expandable Bike Stand:
One on the advantages of REI is the satisfaction guarantee. This product is so bad I'm sure REI will be discontinuing after everyone returns the rack.
The bars that hold the wheels are to flimsy and with no connection on top barely hold the bike.
The little bumps on top get caught in the spokes, and best yet when only one bike in left in the rack 1/2 the time the rack will flip over.
It might work for small kids bikes but even then there are cheaper better products out there

Comments about 2-N-1 Expandable Bike Stand:
I was looking for a compact, efficient way to store my two bikes. This stand provides that, but the uprights are not as strong as I expected them to be, allowing the bikes to tip and lean. Also, neither my road bike nor my mountain bike nest well in the uprights. When storing them, I have to spread open the uprights to get the bikes to fit. I hesitate to bend open the uprights any more than they already are, since the bikes lean now and I fear it would make the leaning even worse. Bottom line: it works, it does the job, but it's not terrific!

Comments about 2-N-1 Expandable Bike Stand:
Conceptually this product is a great idea. Right out of the box I had problems. First, there were not enough bolts/washers/nuts to assemble the rack per the instructions. The strange thing was that the hardware bag was factory sealed! Nonetheless, I proceeded with installation expecting that the manufacturer would later send me a replacement (more on that later!). I quickly ran into an issue where the coupler could not be fully inserted into one of the base halves. Upon closer inspection I learned that a sloppy weld inside of the base half was blocking the coupler. I took a chisel and hammer and cleaned up the sloppy weld enough that I could hammer the coupler into the base half. I finally got the rack fully assembled (minus one bolt). I tested it out on my first bike (a Gary Fisher mountain bike) and quickly ran into the issue that other reviewers complained about. First, the wheel supports were way to narrow to accomodate the front wheel. I had to pry it apart to make it fit. I put my next bike (a Colnago road bike) on the other wheel support...same problem...too narrow. After prying it apart I finally got two bikes on the rack. Here's where I encountered the second issue. The setup was way to wobbly. I was afraid my $5000 Colnago would fall over. So I promptly removed it and decided I would use it for my wife's mountain bike instead. At this point I was still considering keeping this junk (believe it or not). I contacted the manufacturer by email (as I couldn't find a phone number). I explained all of the assembly problems I experienced and asked them to provide me with the missing parts (bolt, nut and two washers) so that I could avoid having to exchange the whole thing just for the missing bolt. After a week I received no response. They didn't even respond that they received my comments. After verifying my spam filter didn't filter their response (it didn't...there was no response) I made a second attempt to contact the manufacturer. Again, no response. At that point I gave up. This junk is going back to REI tomorrow. [...]

TRied to use it on back porch.
Nothing good about it except it is steel and can be recycled.
Everything came loose, lost plastic covers.

Comments about 2-N-1 Expandable Bike Stand:
Assembly was quite straight forward. It does not work with my hybrid bike with disc brakes, as it needs to anchor the front wheel axle. I can see not all tire size would fit and some folks do need to use force to fit the bike in. The good part is that it won't lean on spokes and should not bend the wheel. But do need to balance the bikes (keep them straight) somewhat to avoid tiping over. It does fit my wife's mountain bike and my 8 yr old daughter's kid mountain bike. Get the job done but do need special care and there are better choices.
