Comments about Planet Bike EZ Fenders - 45mm:
I was a little sceptical at first seeing everyone riding around Seattle with monster fenders that nearly touched the ground. After buying and using these they kept tire water off my boddy even during heavy rain. They attach very easily and come off just as easy. I would probably run these even if I did have fender mounts on my bike because of the easy on/off factor. They will rub if not adjusted right but seem to stay in place once adjusted fairly well. Very light too; perfect for the kind of bike that doesn't come with fender mounts. I was also able to cut the rubber straps (that hold the fenders on) in half and so I have spares if the old ones ever wear out. They may not ever wear out.

Comments about Planet Bike EZ Fenders - 45mm:
I commute rain or shine so I have a road bike with disk breaks for better stopping, but this does not allow normal fenders to be attached. However, these fenders work great with disk breaks and they cover the full length of the wheel offering better protection from road mud for me and my components.
These fenders are easy to attach and detach after you have initially installed them, but it took a lot of time getting the correct alignment. Also, the instructions are not very clear, though most people should be able to work through it.
I was not able to find another product that has all of the following qualities: full coverage, fits with disk brakes, has mud flaps, and high quality.
I would give this 5 stars but I would have preferred something more permanently attachable.

Comments about Planet Bike EZ Fenders - 45mm:
I bought these fenders for my Surly Long Haul Trucker Touring bike. I did a bike trip self supported with UK friend through Thailand, Laos and Cambodia in January/February, 2008. The mounting of these fenders leaves a lot to be desired. The bracket which was provided to mount to the rear fork did not fit without tire/rack interference but it fit perfectly in the front fork. This caused the rear fender, as it lacked adequate firm mounting on top, to constantly rub the tires or whenever I hit a bump in the road. The mounting of the rer fender to the frame hole of the bike left a lot to be desired. These fenders are made out of a cheap plastic, and it cracked almost immediately upon mounting, but because I was in Bangkok at the time, I had to work around it, but the cracking got worse and worse, to where later in the trip, it just broke apart and I had to discard the fender. Upon return to States, I contacted Planet bike about these fenders and was told they had a lifetime warranty and they would send me a new set of fenders...but after repeated contact, I've yet to receive anything. I would not recommend purchasing these fenders at all...they're cheap, the mounting is insufficient, and the fender design is not good at all.

Comments about Planet Bike EZ Fenders - 45mm:
I bought these for commuting to school after a couple soggy commutes. I went with this set for my disc-brake and front shock mountain bike. I first bought the wider fenders because of the wider MTB tires. The thinner profile of the fenders doesn't make sense to me since they'll likely be going on a mountain bike. But apparently that doesn't matter because it doesn't fit with these tires anyway.
However, they do fit well with thinner tires (I got some Forte City ST MTB tires for commuting, 26x1.25" I think, also no longer sold, I believe). But I was pretty disappointed when they didn't fit with the knobbier MTB tires. It had snowed...so I needed the fenders and the knobbies. But considering how infrequently that happens, I'm not too disappointed. Either way, Planet Bike needs to make these in 60mm as well.
And I'd have to agree, the mounting rubber bands make me a bit nervous.

Comments about Planet Bike EZ Fenders - 45mm:
Very hard to adjust to keep from rubbing on wheels. What's more, with the bumps of urban riding, the rubber straps holding the fenders in place are prone to slipping, causing the fender to contact the wheel. I had to take these back and go with a quick release dirt board.
