Comments about Sigma Sport BC 1606L Bike Computer:
I was looking for a decently priced bike computer with a backlight. I also wanted cadence and average speed. This Sigma fit the bill. It has everything I wanted; plus it also came with a two-bike memory feature which I plan to use when I get my mountain bike up and running again.
I steered clear of wireless computers due to a subpar performace (i.e. inconsistent transmission) and haven't been upset about that decision.

Comments about Sigma Sport BC 1606L Bike Computer:
I own two of the Sigma 1606L Wired bike computer. The first one I purchased about 3 seasons ago. I also bought the optional cadence feature. The 1606L is easy to set up for the first time and to navigate through the different displays while on or off the bike. When not in use it defualts to the clock display which comes in handy if you cycle tour. You can take it to the tent with you for use as a watch. I pay the most attention to the current speed, average speed, and distance traveled while riding, but the other features such as max speed and ride time are interesting to scroll through at the end of a long ride. I used to also pay attention to cadence but after the first season something went wrong with the sensor and so it now only works intermittently. For example, it will go from 90 rpm to 0 then to 40, all the while I'm pedaling at a constant rate. I have just under 3000 miles on the first unit I bought and just the other day the two buttons on the bottom fell off somewhere along my commute. The second unit I purchased at the end of last season. It has about 600 miles on it. Just the other day it quit working. I believe it to be the sensor on the fork that gave up the ghost. The display still works just fine, it just isn't recieving any data. Between the two I can mix and match to still have one that works which isn't too bad. Bottom line, I think there is an inherent weakness in the sensors (I had issues with both the cadence and main sensor on two seperate units), but both lasted one full season before having problems so for the [$]price tag they are worth the money.

Comments about Sigma Sport BC 1606L Bike Computer:
I looked at all of the computers with a cadence feature and thought this looked like the best for my commuter bike.
The problem that drives me crazy is that the cadence feature works randomly. I cannot tell you how many times I have spent on the candence sensors. They must have a tolerence of one micrometer.
The install instructions were ok. The computer operations could be easier. It is easy to press the wrong button while riding and then you are re-programming the computer.
I like the simple handlebar mount. Speedometer is very accurate.

Comments about Sigma Sport BC 1606L Bike Computer:
Accurate readings, easy to read, but have had to terminate the wire so many times (and the copper wires are very tiny!) that I've run out of wire. Plus, the buttons have begun to fall off.

Comments about Sigma Sport BC 1606L Bike Computer:
I bought this speedometer because I wanted a wired speedometer that had a backlight and didn't take up space on the handlebars.
Pros
- Nice screen - more readable at off angles than my old Cateye Enduro 8 by far.
- It's been very reliable - unlike my Cateye Enduro 8 I've never looked down the the speedometer didn't have a reading even though I wasn't moving (I had 2 different Enduro 8's - both at some time had this happen).
- The stem mount hasn't had any issue with keeping the speedometer on the stem - I haven't thought about once I put it on.
- Once you learn what to do, the backlight works.
- It's pretty interesting to be able to reset just one value - mostly it's nice to be able to reset the max speed value without also resetting the trip distance, average speed, etc.
Cons
- The speedometer annoyingly hides certain info while you're riding and there's no way to get at it. For example, someone asked me how many miles I put on my bike since I bought it - but couldn't say as it wouldn't show me the odometer unless I stopped.
- You can't stem mount the speedometer and use the cadence sensor at the same time - the placement of the connector is on the bottom of the speedometer, neither I nor the bike shop mechanic could figure out how we would be able to hook it up.
- The backlight functions, but it's more of a PITA than it could be. First you have to press the two left buttons to activate the ability to turn the backlight on. This functionality turns itself off after a certain period of time, assumably to save battery life, so you have to do it every ride. After that, when you hit a button the display lights up - fortunately, you can tap either of the two buttons on the left to light it up without changing what it's displaying. But when the light does come on, it stays on for about 1 second. I haven't timed it, but it turns back off really quickly. There's also no way to simply turn it on and have it stay on, which would have been really nice.
This is one of only two wired speedometers I know of that are wired but also have a backlight. The other is made by Topeak.
If you want a reliable speedometer with a decent screen and a backlight this is a good choice, as long as either you don't want cadence or are willing to mount it on the handlebars. If that's the case, this is the best wired speedometer I can find that has a backlight.

I use this cmp on my mountain bike and i love it gives me all the info i want, and the cadence really pushes me to pedal faster.
Comments about Sigma Sport BC 1606L Bike Computer:
Used it for a motorcycle with a broken speedometer. Can take a little creativity to mount the magnet and sensor, and may need larger cable ties, etc. for the extra stress found in motorsports. Theres blogs on the web with tips on setting it up for a moto. So far, very good computer, and able to withstand the rigors of motorsports. Also, the 2nd mounting bracket available from Sigma makes it easy to share the computer with a bicycle too, with separate and combined stats. Cool.

Comments about Sigma Sport BC 1606L Bike Computer:
I've had this computer on my bike for about 4 weeks now, and I have yet to find anything bad to say about it. It was easy to mount, easy to program, and the accuracy is within fractions of a mile on known distances.
