Comments about REI Backpacker First Aid Kit:

I purchased this kit seven years ago when working as an EMT for a summer camp. The bag is well designed, easy to adapt, and durable. As a medical professional, I have used a lot of different first aid kits - this one is worth the bag alone. The initial first-aid supplies are also very good, covering most everything one could need. The bag is a good size, and can take up the better part of a daypack, but is definitly worth the space if you are hiking with a group or if you'll be spending some time in backcountry. For the price, you can't do any better.

Comments about REI Backpacker First Aid Kit:

Many years ago I was working on a student film. One of the props was a little rowboat someone had built. The surf caught it and pulled it off the beach. The cinematographer went to retrieve it, but another wave pushed it back toward the beach -- right into the cinematographer's shin. He had a large, ugly, painful abrasion. I was the only one with a first aid kit, and it was one of those little Johnson & Johnson ones you get at the drug store. I used nearly all of its contents attending to the injury. My next trip to REI I bought the Backpacker's First Aid Kit.

Fortunately I've never had to use it to the degree I needed one like it on that beach in Santa Monica. But it has come in handy a few times on our low- (or no-) budget film sets with its adhesive strips, gauze pads, analgesics, antihistamines, and whatnot. And you never know when you might need a bit of tape. I keep one of these kits in the house, and clip it to my gear bag when working on a film. I have another that is secured in a handy location in my Jeep. I've just bought another car, so I'll be getting a third kit for it.

Another reviewer mentioned some items that should be included. I'd also add that there should be more adhesive strips. But anything you may need will be easily available at a number of places. There's plenty of room inside the bag to customize its contents for your needs.

Great product, i use it for my patrol during campouts, but it was missing some essentials, like alcohol swabs, triangular bandages, hand sanitizer and 3 x 3 gauze pads

Comments about REI Backpacker First Aid Kit:

This is certainly a complete kit, and a great value. The contents of the kit are for 3 or more people so this kit would be overkill for solo stuff, but great for pulling a few items from and packing in your day pack, etc...

All in all a good buy.

Comments about REI Backpacker First Aid Kit:

I take this first aid kit on boat-based surfing trips and it has proved very useful.

I have supplemented it with butterfly strips to cater for coral cuts when stitches are needed, added a larger betadine bottle, a stainless steel pick for extracting debris from cuts, immodium, aspirin and pseudoephidrine (sudafed).

It has everything you could possibly need and room for those little extras. It could use a little more Mole Skin, but definetly a First Aid Kit I feel comfortable bringing anywhere! I own two: one for backpacking and one that I keep in my car premanently.

I ride a full dressed touring motorcycle. This kit is perfect, for those little things encountered on the road. Bee stings, exhaust burns, sun burn, scrapes, splinters, cuts, and bruises. And yes, you can add a few other bandages. I added a cold compress, and a sling.
