Comments about Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100 Kayak:
The Pamlico 100 is a great boat. My friends and i purchased 7 of them and our now on our third summer with them. We purchased them primarily for fishing on the local rivers and lakes, but soon were taking them down class III rivers! Though this is obviously not recommended they were excellent on the whitewater. I would recommend buying a skirt from Immersion Research, as we had problems with the other rec boat skirts. We have beat the heck out of these boats and they have held up very well. You will not regret purchasing this boat.

Comments about Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100 Kayak:
Both my husband and I own this boat and couldn't be more happy with our purchase. After a couple of months of research, we found this to be the best option for an affordable boat that could take you just about anywhere except for breaking waves and Class III and above rapids. (I'll leave those to the more adventureous type). A year after owning these suckers, we've taken them down the Hiwassee River, the lower lower portion of the Ocoee River, and the Harpeth River and out onto Percy Priest Lake, Ocoee and Parksville Lake, and now Western Lake and Grand Lagoon in Florida. They maneuver as well as you would expect a 10 foot long boat to, and have never had any trouble getting where we need to go. We even managed to take the pass from Grand Lagoon out onto the Gulf of Mexico and did just fine out on the big swells. I wouldn't recommend them for going through the surf unless you have a skirt, as the waves break over and can fill your boat with unwanted water.
We just LOVE our boats and would recommend them to anyone. Seriously.

Comments about Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100 Kayak:
I purchased two of these kayaks for my wife and me. We are very pleased with how stable they are, how easy they are to lift and carry in my pickup, and their value for the price. The only disappointment we had with these kayaks was that the storage "compartment" isn't really a compartment at all. There is a cover that opens up to the open space behind the seat. The area is not sealed off from the rest of the kayak, therefore water can easily enter the storage area. We enjoy using these kayaks on rivers around the Saint Louis, MO area.

Comments about Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100 Kayak:
I've used this kayak for class 2 rivers and calm lakes, it performs well in both settings. I've used it for day trips and multi-day trips. There is not another recreational boat I would rather have.

Comments about Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100 Kayak:
This is a terrific recreational kayak. It's a well-made, quality product at a reasonably economical price. A great value considering features, performance, and price. Lightweight, compact, roomy, rugged, stable, maneuverable. My wife and I own 2 of these kayaks. We are quite happy and very satisfied with them. We've used them for 2 seasons while camping at lakes like Ice House, Lake Berryessa, Silver Lake, and Clear Lake. Since they're just 10 feet long, we can haul them INSIDE our full-size Ford Extended passenger van. Great for fishing, short day trips, or just "paddling around." Not so good for long-distance trekking or ocean swells. We recommend them often to our relatives and friends.

Comments about Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100 Kayak:
I love this kayak! A canoeist, I bought the Pamlico 100, with its large cockpit, for my dog Libby, so that she and I could go out on the water by ourselves. Now, it’s the boat that everyone in the family wants to use! Never would I think the 6 foot-plus men in our household would find it as comfortable as I did. We’ve used it on lakes and rivers …it’s very maneuverable and a lot of fun!.

Comments about Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100 Kayak:
Bought two of these after reading reviews online. I've kayaked a bit many years ago, but with me and the wife being early 40s, we wanted something easy to get around a fairly large creek system. We go out for a couple of hours at a time very happily. The boats are a little slow because they are wide, but they are easy to paddle, easy to get in and about, and great for guests who have never done this sort of thing before. Comments about Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100 Kayak:
When I purchased this kayak, I thought I was buying a nice stable recreational kayak, that was suitable for flat water and relatively calm rivers and mild whitewater. What I found was that while this kayak is very stable, it is slow and handles like a large heavy log. My biggest problem with this kayak was that the spray skirt would pop off on the sides every time I had to scoot off of a rock or even when launching from the shore. Sometimes it would even pop off while I was paddling vigorously. I tried two different spray skirts. One was a nylon spray skirt. The second one was a high end neoprene skirt. The problem is with the elongated cockpit design. The spray skirt would stay attached at the front and rear of the cockpit, but would constantly pop off on the sides, allowing spray to enter. If you aren't going to need a spray skirt at all, or are using this boat for fishing, then this could be a good one for you. If you are planning anything more adventureous than water that is as calm as glass, then I would pass on this one.

Comments about Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100 Kayak:
After two seasons of moderate use I'll say that I got what I expected; a solid recreation kayak for paddeling lakes and easy rivers in the area. The boat is easy to lift and put in the back of my pickup, and easy to store (leaning up against the wall because of its short length). It isn't the speediest kayak in the world, but that's clearly a tradeoff for short length, beam, and form stability. It tracks fairly well and is maneuverable. The only real question I have is why WS put a large aft access hatch in when there's equally large access to the stern behind the (very comfortable) seat. I'd rather have a lower price and/or bungee cord. Although I'm "graduating" to a larger kayak, I'm keeping the "Pam" around for friends/guests, and just those days I want to get out and simply enjoy the sunshine.
