Comments about Chili's Submarine Sunglasses - Polarized:

I've gotten two paris of these from REI Outlet. I think they are a great deal. The overall durability is what you'd expect for inexpensive sunglasses. (They aren't tempered lenses, metal earpieces, etc.) I've had no fit issues. I did break off the earpiece on one pair during a Death Valley trip, but they still stayed useably square over my eyes to use even with a jury-rigged fix.

My favorite features of these glasses are:
(1) The enhanced ability see atmospheric phenomena - haloes, rainbows, virgas, etc. that aren't readily discernible to the eye or through other pairs of sunglasses or polarizers on my cameras. It's the combination of color, optical density and polarization that does it. Yes, they are my Rainbow Glasses! (2) Cost is reasonable.
(3) They look good.

I've had 2 pairs of these. The first fit wonderfully and were very comfortable. The build quality, however, was awful. I could never close/retract the ear stems because they'd hit the lenses. I imagine someone at the factory was asleep that day...

I eventually lost that first pair and ordered a second. The good news is that the inspector at the factory was awake so when closing the ear stems, they didn't actually hit the lenses. Finally I could loop my sunglasses on my lapel again.

The bad news was that the nosepads were useless. While trying to adjust the nosepads, the metal piece connecting the nosepad to the frame broke off. I'd had my second pair for all of 2 days.

Nice build quality, guys. It's a disgrace REI even carries stuff like this.
