Comments about Native Eyewear Hardtop XP Polarized Sunglasses:
I'm rough with my gear, so I knew I needed a solid pair of sunglasses with a good warranty.
Before long, I broke my cherished Natives and had to send them in for a new pair.
It took Native THREE (3) MONTHS to send me a new pair. When I finally got the new ones, I noticed that one of the lenses was defective. I once again sent my sunglasses in and it took them another 3 weeks to get me a replacement. They had also charged me an additional $30 (on top of the $65 I paid for the first replacement) when they had send that the 2nd replacement would be free.
I tried contacting someone in charge of customer service and she basically shrugged the whole thing off.
Thanks for nothing, Native!

Had these for 2 months, then suddenly lost a lens that popped off in normal use... flimsy frame. Native's website for replacement lens is lame, so had to call and eventually got through. $30 to replace the frames.

I mostly use these for walking, bicycling, driving my convertible, hiking and kayaking. Best pros are the interchangeable lenses for all light conditions. Replaceability of lenses if they get scratched. Ability of legs to break away without breaking -they snap right back in. And the look is pretty good, too.
Cons: high price - know where your glasses are at all times!; lenses that scratch too easily.
Good long-term buy if you can keep from losing them (get a neck-keeper) and can take care of the lenses. Sometimes REI or another outlet will run 50% off sales in winter.

Comments about Native Eyewear Hardtop XP Polarized Sunglasses:
The hardtop XP had a known defect, the temples break easily. The warranty requires you to send in $30 anyway. I feel since this is their defect it should be replaced for free. I explained this to Native customer service and I was very disappointed in their ability to address my issue.
DON't BUY Native products.

Comments about Native Eyewear Hardtop XP Polarized Sunglasses:
Frankly, I'm shocked at the negative reviews. I got the Hardtop XPs as a present 5 years ago and still wear them daily for everything from commuting to work to on the field for ultimate frisbee or hiking. They are super light and have always been comfortably secure when I'm running around or hopping boulders etc.I'm not someone that babies my glasses; I rarely put them in the supplied case, and often just throw them in my bag loose. The frames and lenses have been durable. I broke one of the ear pieces through user error and Native replaced the entire frames within a reasonable time (there was a [$] "processing fee"). After several years with the same lenses, I finally scratched them a little bit when I dropped them off my head with the lens landing flat on the pavement.I wouldn't trade these.

Used then for a 2 months...very lightweight. Husband coveted them so I bought him a pair. 5 months of use between us and the "gator" clips gave out (no unusual use). I refuse to pay $60 EXTRA dollars to return faulty merchandise. Co worker had EXACT same problem He though it was just his pair, purchased another pair, those also broke. He uses the second pair for "parts" when the original pair falls apart (which is frequent.) Hubby has his gator clips taped together. I used mine for target practice. What a WASTE of money!!! almost $500 for worthless plastic!!!

Comments about Native Eyewear Hardtop XP Polarized Sunglasses:
The frames are poorly constructed. The first pair I had, the peg that holds the earpiece on broke off in a short amount of time.[...]The new model I received had a metal peg (as opposed to plastic) so obviously this had been a problem for many people. Recently the rubber tip on the ear piece came off and when I tried to contact Native they told me it would cost some sort of fee, I can't remember the exact price, but it was a ridiculous amount to pay for a small piece of rubber. Today the earpiece broke off and I am not sure when I'm going to do. I hate to take back another pair [...], but the fee to fix the problem charged by Native is too much. It makes these glasses worth probably $400 in parts. I'd rather just buy a different brand all together.

Comments about Native Eyewear Hardtop XP Polarized Sunglasses:
I got these for cycling, although they are great for any outdoor activity--they wrap around nicely, they stay put on my face without feeling too tight, they don't fog up, and they block the sun coming in from the top of the lenses--Great protection for my eyes!
I tried many different styles and brands, trying to find a good fit for my face, good protection, and interchangeable lenses, and I finally narrowed my choice down to these and the Smith Factor Max--ended up getting both! These fit my small, narrow face just fine, even though they supposedly are for a large profile. The lenses are angled in such a way that they fit better than the regular Native Hardtops (which touch my cheeks). The SportsFlex lenses are really nice--they brighten everything up nicely in low-light conditions. I do wish that the lens swapping were a little easier--it takes some getting used to (unlike the Smith's, which snap in with no trouble at all).
I purchased mine from another supplier, because REI didn't offer the frame/lens combo that I wanted.
