Today, 2/3 of the way into a 20 mile ride on a Rail-To-Trail path, I turned to offer encouragement to a rider puffing uphill (I was going down at 15-20mph). I went off the trail into gravel, hung on for maybe 10-15 ft, then lost it. I'm fine - no head trauma that I can tell, although I've got a headache, and a nice set of bruises, cuts, and scrapes on my left shoulder, arm, and leg. The helmet did its job by fracturing and denting, protecting my head. The photo below shows damage to the helmet that would have been to my head.

The only thing I didn't like about this helmet is that the foam sizing pads were a bit thin. It didn't make any difference in the accident, but I've always felt that the helmet's fit was a bit loose on my head.

I'll definitely purchase another of the same model.

I crashed head first to the pavement on a dark, wet night last February. I was fully aware of my shoulder injury. What I did not realize until later was that I had also hit my head on the pavement. Although the Styrofoam shell had several cracks from the impact, my head was just fine. I still find it hard to believe so many riders fail to wear a helmet. I might not be writing this review if I had not been wearing mine.

I'm told that my wife and I had a cycling accident Labor Day 2010. I don't remember. In fact, I have no memory of that day at all or the previous several days. But that's okay....because I'm here to write about it. I have no doubt my Bell Slant helmet saved my life. It is now cracked and I'll be getting a new one as soon as I'm up to riding again.
My wife hit her head...wearing a Bell Slant...but did not get a concussion, just a bruise. Even though her helmet is not cracked I will be getting her a new one also just to be safe.
We have many bruises and cuts on our left side and Yes, I have a concussion and some memory loss...but that is way better than just being a memory.

Crashed in a fast decent on one of my favorite trails. Helmet saved my head. Visor tore away and helmet cracked due to the impact, but stayed in place and saved my 'noggin. What else can you ask for! Bought a new replacement three hours after finishing my ride.

This is a nice helmet for a reasonable price. The universal fit is pretty good for an average size head. It does sit high on the head, probably due to the lack of precise sizes.

Protection-well this is of course why we wear a helmet and the Bell measures up admirably. After a head-first dismount from 4' high boardwalk the Slant cracked in several places, but the outer shell kept it all together, and I hardly felt the impact (except for the sore neck of course).

This helmet feels good, vents well on hot days, and the visor does a good job of keeping some rain and flying mud out of your face. A good helmet for the price without a doubt.

Unfortunately, I no longer have the privilege to use this helmet. But I can tell you that it very impressively did what it was supposed to do: it saved me in a violent crash. I slammed my head hard on the pavement, and I rode away with only the slightest of pain in my skull and a back scrape. I also undoubtedly loved the style with the "black/carbon" colors. When cinched down with the genius Ergodial, it is more comfortable and snug than I think any other helmet out there. On top of that, the price is fantastic. I really hope to get another one.
