Comments about Gerber EVO Jr. Serrated Locking Knife:
Typically Gerber products are great. I've got multiple Gerber knives that have lasted me for years, and are still working nicely. I liked the sleek design of this knife and thought it would be just as great as the others, and it was at first. It was nice and sharp (sharper after sharpening...) and worked great. I used it for many things. After only a few months, the locking mechanism stopped working. It became absolutely worthless to use because without the lock, it won't stay open. The bolt securing the blade to the handle is stripped. Still together, but unlockable and useless. It was beautiful while it lasted.

I bought this for my wife as she needed a good small and simple knife she could carry. This Knife is very well constructed and extremely sharp. I own several knives and now I am thinking I may need another for myself...

For [$] you can't beat it. Great quality craftmanship. Slides right into my back jeans pocket, clips in place for quick access and opens easily with one hand. The 440A steel doesn't hold an edge like higher carbon, but for the price - no brainer.

Comments about Gerber EVO Jr. Serrated Locking Knife:
I love the knife. It seems small whan you look at it and it is a little small but way better than the bigger version. it came pretty sharp out of the box but wasnt sharp as a scalpel. my other friend as two giant knifes that are really soft and cheap while mine is smaller but way sharper and solid.

Comments about Gerber EVO Jr. Serrated Locking Knife:
I've had this knife for several years. I carried it exclusively for about a month when it was new, then switched back to my Spyderco Delica. I started using it again recently after losing the Delica. After several months the same issues have finally driven me to purchase a new knife.
Pros: It's lightweight. It's functional.
The clip is among the strongest I've had on a knife this size. It still clips firmly to anything with no signs of weakening.
It's an attractive knife, nice design, color and finish.
No signs of rust after several years of on and off use.
Cons: It dulls quickly. The serrations are particularly difficult to sharpen, and I've sharpened many knifes with serrations from Spyderco, Benchmade, CRKT, Gerber, and Cold Steel.
It is difficult to open. After repeatedly oiling and working the mechanism I was able to get it to open with one hand and a strong flick of the wrist. A flick lock knife like this should open easily with one hand.
It has several uncomfortable protrusions. The thumb studs are too small for single-handed opening, but are still long and sharp edged. They have a tendency to snag on both entering and exiting my pocket.
The thumb grooves are too smooth to get a good grip. There are also no grooves under the finger guard. Both make the knife more slippery, especially when wet.
It lacks rigidity. It has a tendency to flex when used. I realize it's not intended to be a heavy duty knife, but it still lacks a feeling of solidness which makes me hesitant to trust it.
I can only recommend this as a casual knife, it's more glorified package opener then utilitarian outdoor knife.

I just bought this today! I hope I never have to use it; however, I bought it as one of the 10 Essentials for day hiking. I read the reviews before the purchase and all were true! I like that it feels sturdy, sharp and very lightweight! Even if it wasn't on sale I think it is a good price.
Be sure you are getting ther SERRATED knife and not the fine edge when purchasing with confidence.

Comments about Gerber EVO Jr. Serrated Locking Knife:
This is a fine Camping Knife to have when doing a simple summit hike or car camping. This knife has went through a lot with the kind of hiking I do.
A couple days ago i managed to drop this in a fire without knowing. The next day when I went to put out the fire i saw the knife laying there. Although it was in the fire for 8 9 hours it still was completely recognizable. Accually put a gold coat in the handle hahaha and the blade was still pretty sharp and good enough for use. It even closed and opened with little effort.

Comments about Gerber EVO Jr. Serrated Locking Knife:
This knife is a cheap rip off of the CRKT M-16 series, those great knives are very poorly represented here.
the knife comes too tight so the flipper dosent work and is stiff to open with the stud. with the M-16 that would be no problem you would just use a flat head screwdriver to loosen the blade bolt, only the gerber version uses a starburst shaped bolt that you need special tools to adjust.
The liner lock is also hard to use, the one I bought was so tight that it shreded the skin on your thumb to close the knife. My friend that I bought it for just leaves it open in his drawer at home because thats all its good for.
Go with the CRKT model its a great knife. the Gerber version isnt worth your money. Gerber is Garbage.

Comments about Gerber EVO Jr. Serrated Locking Knife:
I just recently bought this knife and it seems to be very nice. Right after I opened it out of its package and was playing with it, I cut myself. The blade is very sharp which is very good thing. The knife is also very compact and not heavy at all. It's a great addition to the backpack
