Comments about Montrail Blue Ridge Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Women's:
A nice all around boot that does not need much breaking in. Fairly comfortably for multiday hikes and repels water well, just do not imagine that immersing your foot in a creek to where the tongue is will keep water out.
I have used them hard in the mountains, doing intermediate climbing, up scree slopes, etc. This has taken its toll on the leather. One of the shoelace lugs pulled out, but it was worth getting fixed as I like the boot. I am prone to blisters and still get them in these if I don't use duct tape. However much less blistering in these than some TNF boots I have.
A caution to ultra-lighters: These are hardly heavy within the scheme of boots used in the mountains. Lighter can mean less support and less comfort that offsets a few ounces weight. The same analogy is even more true for ultralight backpacks, most of which require a strong commitment to leaving everything behind.
I wore the Men's, which does not seem to be available here anymore.

Comments about Montrail Blue Ridge Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Women's:
I bought these about 2 years ago and they have held up really well--the rubber toe top is curling a bit but that doesn't affect the waterproofness. after heavy winter use I did need to re-waterproof with oil to keep my feet dry. I have very narrow, flat feet and these are the only boots I have ever had that did not eat my heels; they are perfect.

Comments about Montrail Blue Ridge Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Women's:
These did not work out for me after 2 months of constant use. The gortex eventually started leaking, I had cracks in the leather, and the lower rubber covering began to peel off. But they are very very comfortable. I ended up going with Men's Montrails which seem to have the same amount of comfort, but layers are sewn on rather than glued.

Comments about Montrail Blue Ridge Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Women's:
Bought these specifically to climb Kilimanjaro -- as I'm not really a big hiker and I didn't have heavy-duty boots. Nine days (7 1/2 up, 1 1/2 down) -- one tiny blister. Very comfortable, though they are heavy, which was probably necessary. They run about a half size small. I bought a size and a half up to accommodate layering my socks (liner, heavy and extra heavy socks for summit day). You definitely want to try them on in the store with different sock combos before buying. One note: I swapped the insole for Superfeet so I don't know how the regular insole would have performed. One negative: traction could have been better on scree and ash.

Comments about Montrail Blue Ridge Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Women's:
These boots are extremely comfortable and provide excellent ankle support and traction. I bought them for a long backpacking trip in Patagonia that had wet and rocky terrain and they must have prevented at least 10 potential slips and sprained ankles. They required no breaking in and were comfortable from the beginning. I have never gotten any blisters and they have kept my feet dry despite stepping in puddles and creeks. Highly recommended.

These boots have served me well. I've worn them on about 6 backpacking trips. No blisters and no problems. They fit my low volume feet. I hope REI will carry more Montrail products as they are high quality.

Comments about Montrail Blue Ridge Gore-Tex Hiking Boots - Women's:
I've probably gotten about 30-40 miles in on these boots so far and they're working out great. Just did a 5 mile hike through 6+ inches of snow and my feet stayed completely warm and dry. There was never really any breaking in period as they were comfortable right away and have never given me a single blister. They can feel a little heavy but are very sturdy so it's a good trade off.

I love my boots. I have worn them multi-day hiking without getting sore feet. I put superfeet insoles (green) inside which makes a big difference. I had foot surgery and within two months these were the only shoes that were comfortable and stable enough for my feet...and I went hiking!

I wore this shoe up Kilimanjaro, hiking to Machu Picchu, Mt. Whitney and 200 other hikes. I finally wore it out after 2 years. It fit me better than any hiking boot I have had so far - it tugs your ankle in and is made for a female's foot. I am going in Friday to replace it before they change the design! In order for it to fit my toe base I did go 1 size larger, this did not cause any problems. Never caused blisters. It didn't even need broken in.
