The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Coleman Freestanding Tent Fan:
I am on disability. I am easily affected by temperature changes (mostly heat). I had little hand held fans, spray bottles and the like. They were hard to set down if I had to fill out forms in doctor's office, etc. This has two speeds, and the stand will allow it to be set on a chair or table. Very quiet. Several people have asked me where I got it since it is so quiet. I take it to church, to all appointments, shopping--anywhere I might need help with temperature. I love it. Want to get another one as a back-up so I am not caught without one. Foam blades are perfect. 4 D batteries last a long time. Couldn't be happier!

Comments about Coleman Freestanding Tent Fan:
I bought 2 of these fans for a camping trip in Mo. It just happened to be the hottest day of the year. It was 100 degrees that day and the night was 98. The first night they worked like a champ. We were so excited. They went through the 4 D cell batteries. But lucky for me I had enough brand new batteries for each night out. So the next night we replaced the batteries in each fan and then they would not turn on. We checked the placement of the batteries and the fans would not run. We were never able to use them again. I will be returning them to REI ASAP. I would not count on this product to be dependable.

Comments about Coleman Freestanding Tent Fan:
I wanted a small fan to cool off my tent in the warmer months. I bought this one because it was a good price and seemed to be a good design for car camping. However, when I went to buy 4 D batteries I was surprised at how much they cost, which makes this unit a little more expensive to operate than I had planned. Fortunately, I searched around and found a good deal on a 12-pack of batteries and got ready to take this fan on my first camping trip. When I put the batteries in and turned it on, I was happily surprised that this fan has almost as much power as any of the electric fans I've used. Unfortunately, I went to sleep and two hours later I woke up to find the fan was no longer working. I thought maybe it had used up the cheap batteries already, so I replaced the batteries, but it still didn't work with new batteries. I really like everything about this fan when it does work (plus I now have a ton of D batteries I don't need for anything else!), so I'm going to bring it back and exchange it for another one which I hope will have a much longer life than 2 hours!

Comments about Coleman Freestanding Tent Fan:
I ordered this fan to use in a dormitory setting in Honduras, where there is no air-conditioning. It was too big and bulky to put in my carry-on luggage, and I was afraid it was not sturdy enough to place in my checked bag. It was quiet enough and may be great for a tent, but definitely not appropriate for air travel. The on-off switch was defective, so I had to return the fan anyway.

Comments about Coleman Freestanding Tent Fan:
My son took it to camp and his camp-mates kept borrowing it. The batteries make it rather heavy but it has worked for a long time on the same set of batteries. We have 2 now and used them this summer at home when our power went out (no AC!). We are very happy with this fan.

Comments about Coleman Freestanding Tent Fan:
We've used this at Burning Man for a few years now at night, and it works fine for us till the tent cools down. It's considerably quieter than the smaller, cheaper AA-powered fans, which is a big plus when you're trying to sleep.
We go for a week and use the fan for a few hours each night, and the batteries have lasted the whole week under our use (fresh set each year, of course).

Bought the fan for the heat of burning man- worked for 15 minutes, then fan began to make ungodly noises, and slowed down- you get what you pay for
