Compact and portable unit delivers hot water anytime for cooking, washing and other camp tasks, giving you more time to enjoy the outdoors.

  • Using standard 16.4-ounce propane cylinders and a rechargeable water pump, unit can produce up to 40 gallons of hot water per cylinder and per charge
  • Includes sturdy polyethylene 5-gallon water container for water storage; pump hose attaches neatly to container for use
  • Easy and quick to use: connect hose to water container, adjust to desired temperature and within 5 seconds hot water is ready for use
  • Sturdy plastic casing with carry handle stands up to rugged camp life; water spigot emerges from handle for easy direction of hot water
  • Storage panel on side holds included AC adapter and DC cigarette-lighter adapter for recharging of pump battery
  • Replaceable lead-acid 6V battery supplies reliable power to water pump; 40-minute run-time on pump and approximately 8 hours to recharge battery
  • Front indicator lights for Over Temp, Battery Low and Recharging keep you informed of appliance's status
  • Electronic ignition via piezo igniter for simple, matchless heating; heater generates up to 30,000 BTU and water temperatures up to 160° F
  • Low maintenance unit requires occasional cleaning with simple household solution
  • Unit is to be operated outdoors only in well-ventilated areas to prevent suffocation from carbon monoxide
  • Can be set up to use bulk propane tanks and continuous water supplies using appropriate adapters (not included)
  • Hot Water on Demand™ is designed to be used on a raised, level surface such as a picnic or camp table; do not operate directly on the ground
  • Use only potable, purified drinking water as unit will not filter or clean water in any way

Unfortunately, all I could get were single sparks upon turning this heater on, which would give me a couple of seconds of warm water and then the water would turn cold. The burner wouldn't light. Very disappointing.

I spoke to another person who had this product and he had a similar problem. The two Coleman service centers in my area said they didn't service this product. So, I would either have to ship the water heater back to Coleman for repair or replacement -- or return it to REI. I did the latter. Thank goodness for REI's return policy.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Really delivers hot water in 5 seconds - no more heating water on the stove. The water is definately hot enough to wash dishes or to take a shower when the sun is not out to heat your shower bag. Would be nice to have a spare battery available for use on longer trips or with large groups. Adapter for larger water source would be nice, though it is possible to submerge the pump supplied in a container with a large enough opening.

        Works great. Sometimes it's a bit of a pain to turn it off and on while showering, but you get used to it. You'll feel great after you get a hot shower!

        We got this as a wedding gift in 2007 and have used it a handful of times in 2008. We camp each year with 30+ people and lets just say our camp kitchen area was always in use. We cook complete meals for breakfast and dinner and it is so nice to wash and rinse all our pots and pans with hot water. Taking showers in the evening after being in the boat all day covered in sunshine and bug spray was another benefit. We can not imagine camping without now. It takes up a little more room packing, but is well worth it.
