Comments about Necky Manitou Sport Kayak:
My wife and I along with two of our friends all bought the Manitou Sport. I can't say enough good about it. It's great for weekend camping trips. Holds a TON of weight (I tested it with gear and 2 Jack Russels). Best aspect is its size. If you want an all around useful kayak, get this one. Not a huge amount of cargo space like the touring, but roomier than a whitewater kayak and still maneuverable. We've done mild rapids and weekend trips and I couldn't ask for a more versatile kayak.

Comments about Necky Manitou Sport Kayak:
After exhaustive research I decided on this kayak. To put it simply its the last boat I'll ever need. I find it to be stable with great tracking for its length, and its maneuverable enough to work in narrow streams. The cargo space is enough for my pack and rain gear, which is approx. 3000 Cubic inches. The waterproof cover requires technique and finesse to get on but it lets no water in at all. My biggest complaint in the rim in the cockpit is a little sharp and cuts into my shoulder when i carry it around. Overall an amazing craft that will not leave you disappointed.

Comments about Necky Manitou Sport Kayak:
I bought this for my wife who has had limited paddle time. We went to a small lake and she was overjoyed at the ease and comfort of her Necky Manitou Sport.
We went in tense and left very relaxed as I have the Manitou 13.

Comments about Necky Manitou Sport Kayak:
Awesome craft. This is the first kayak I've ever owned. I've used this on lakes/reservoirs, sloughs and bays and it handled great. I typically do not use the skirt during the warmer months, but I'd suggest investing in a good waterproof skirt for the cooler months. So far, I do not miss the lack of a rudder, but I can see that being a point of contention for those that are more advanced paddlers. It does have a rear hatch that I do not use much because the neoprene cover is difficult to reinstall, after you've opened the hatch (NOTE: I'm guessing this is a problem with all kayaks, not just this model).
The best thing I like is the plastic construction - you simply do not need to worry about rocks or ramps or anything; the stuff is virtually indestructible.
