Comments about Osprey Atmos 35 Pack:
This is one of the largest panel loading backpacks out there. Panel loads are much more convenient for day to day use which is my primary use for it. If you wrap the waist belt around the other way, and tighten the compression, it is as small as a normal back pack (doesn't look weird carrying around town). At the other extreme, you can max it out at 38L for the large size, witch fits my long torso well. On top of it all, the mesh back really does keep your back dry, and it is very comfortable. I use it for commuting with a laptop, day hikes, and vacation carry-ons. The shoulder and waist straps are thin to keep the weight down, so they do hurt after a while if loaded beyond 25lbs. Quality has been great after 6mo of daily usage.

Comments about Osprey Atmos 35 Pack:
I use this pack for work (hiking 8hrs/day, USDA Forest Service) and it is a godsend. Well-balanced, enough capacity for day use to load basic First Aid, my 3-liter Camelback bladder, lunch, clothing layers, hand tools. Hip straps have light padding and zip-pockets, and there are many loops and buckles for securing gear like walking sticks or clipping other equipment. This is perfect for rigorous day hikes.
Service and delivery comments:
REI delivers so incredibly fast. The pack is so light it felt like the box was empty!

Comments about Osprey Atmos 35 Pack:
The most appealing attributes of this pack include the airspeed mesh back and rugged suspension. I can cram my gear in and the pack holds its shape and transfers weight to my hips. But having a cool back with an internal frame comes at a price. The main pocket is curved in a way which makes pulling out gear from the bottom difficult. Also, the side compression straps pull back the zipper flap exposing potential leak areas in wet weather. The zippers are bomber, so im not concerned with the extra stress points. Since there are few pockets, utilizing the space between the mesh panel and frame can be very useful. Despite these cons, I love using this pack and find it to be a valuable and versatile piece of equipment.

Comments about Osprey Atmos 35 Pack:
I bought this pack online. Bottom line, extremely poor quality. The buckles are junk. One snapped and cracked during the first mile into a light hike. Materials used especially the shoulder and waist straps are cheap. Comfortable at first, yes, however, it is very clear that many if not MOST of all Osprey packs are cheap and will not withstand the test of time. I immediately returned this pack for a full refund and went back to Mountainsmith. Sorry.

Comments about Osprey Atmos 35 Pack:
I bought this pack for a week of dayhikes. It held up very well and the frame kept airspace between the pack and my back so I remained cool while hiking. I also used this pack as my carry-on luggage when flying to and from my hiking location. For that use, more compartments would have been nice. The one downside of having the frame is that it makes the interior sections curve quite a bit --it can be difficult to retrieve the bottom items without taking everything above them out. The pack was very comfortable. The zippers
and zipper pulls work well. Features that I'd like to see added are an attached rain fly that folds into a pocket on the pack (as seen on some North Face packs) and a bigger outside pocket to accomodate an entire rain suit.

Comments about Osprey Atmos 35 Pack:
I bought this pack the day before I left on a 4 day, 90+ mile hike on the Wonderland trail around Rainier and was completely satisfied. Would definitely recommend it for a fast-paced, high mileage self-supported trek. The pack is easy loading and fits an amazing amount of gear, the zipper pulls are the bomb/make it very easy to close, hip belt and shoulder straps super comfortable and adjustable. Option of storing water bladder behind mesh backpanel cavity is a huge space-saver - great design feature. Mesh zipper pockets on hip belt allow easy access to snacks/Gu. Ergo-pull hipbelt closure is great -- why didn't pack designers think of this a long time ago. Best designed pack I've seen in a long time.

Comments about Osprey Atmos 35 Pack:
Although I loved the fit of this pack and how comfortable it was for me (small build), I was surprised that the side pockets were made of a material that was easily snagged on my first trip out into the desert as I manuevered my way around bushes. I was also surprised to find during my second hiking trip that the thread holding the only inside compartment together for small items had come loose. Thus all of my small items fell to the bottom of the pack. I feel the overall material, as well, isn't as durable or washable as previous packs I have owned. But again, I love the style and fit of the pack and the fact that it doesn't sit directly on the back is a huge plus. I did like the accessibility of the front pockets but wished I had one more inside pocket to separate items.

Comments about Osprey Atmos 35 Pack:
I love this bag! I use it for everthing from biking around town, to 2 night hikes. The mesh panel keeps you cool, or stuff it with a down jacket for a little insulation. You can also hang your hydration pack in it to add capacity to the bag, or keep you extra cool! The only down fall is that I use platypus bags, and they don't have any hangers, so I usually use the pouch on the inside of the bag. Also, it can be a little tough to get to the zipper to get stuff in or out of the mesh panel area. The curve that the airspeed makes on the inside of the bag takes a little getting used to, but once you know how to pack the bag, its fine.
The side compression straps align great with the side pockets... perfect for bottles of wine or tent poles (and water bottles, too :). You could also probably get away with using them for skiis. I did some modification on mine just using extra webbing and clips so I could carry my snowboard on the front of the bag and it worked great!
The main zippers open really wide (almost to the bottom of the bag), so if you pack tight like me, you can access the stuff on the bottom without taking everything out.
I know they update the bags often: I bought mine in fall 06

This is my first pack and after my first trip I thought it was a little small for overnight trips. Otherwise I loved the construction the padding, the fit, as I have a long torrso. The vent along the back is inspiring!
