Designed for vertical ice and mixed climbing, the Petzl Quark ice tool has a balanced, smooth swing and an aggressive pick design for solid placements.

  • Durable, forged pick tapers towards the point; beveled teeth secure purchase in nearly any type of ice
  • Griprest increases climbing comfort and allows you to climb leashless; can be removed for plunging into snow
  • Ergonomic shaft is designed for climbing with or without a wrist loop to optimize the reach of the tool
  • Easy-to-adjust Clipper wrist loop gives firm support while hanging from the tool; locking slider is easy to manipulate
  • Short steel spike on the end of the shaft provides traction while walking
  • Wide adze for chopping hard snow and clearing ice formations
  • Hex wrench (included) removes pick and adze components; replacement components sold separately
  • Shaft length is 50cm

    Comments about Petzl Charlet Quark Ice Tool - Adze:

    The Quark Ice Tool is great for lead climbing, where one have to place protection. The leash system on the tools makes this easier to do, because one can hang on the tool without really having to grip the tool. The Adze allows removal of bad ice when placing protection. One can use this tool as a leash-less tool for freestyle ice climbing, but the balance on this isn't really built for that. Instead, I'd recommend the Nomic.
