Comments about REI Tagalong Child Carrier:
I've taken my son out with this pack nearly 2x/week from the day he could hold his head up. I recently added the sun/rain hood to the pack, and I am as pleased with the accessories as I am with the pack. The boy sleeps soundly even in the rough terrain areas I hike in. He has yet to fuss while in the pack, and I have gone as long as 2 hours straight in it. The matching diaper bag fits well, and as durable as the REI products I've had in the past, I will be logging many more trail miles before his first B-day.

Comments about REI Tagalong Child Carrier:
Overall, very stylish child carrier with good suspension. We used it since our boy was 6 months, and the suspension remains comfortable for the hyperactive 3 year old boy for multi-day backpacking in the Sierra Navada mountains.
One caveat is that the suspension needs some initial adjustments, but once fitted, it is solid.

Comments about REI Tagalong Child Carrier:
I have carried my son in this carrier for a year and a half. He is now 2 and the carrier has adjusted to his growth. Very stable for him even when doing easy scrambling. Great value for a good product.

Comments about REI Tagalong Child Carrier:
We tried various child carriers with a goal of finding one that was lightweight enough to use frequently, was comfortable for our child, and was a good value. The Tagalong suited our needs perfectly. It is very comfortable to wear and isn't weighed down by lots of cumbersome pockets and attachments. It is strong and supportive and I feel confident that our son is safely secured while riding. The only complaint I have and the reason I did not rate this at five stars, is that it is difficult to adjust the fit from Mom to Dad.

Comments about REI Tagalong Child Carrier:
This thing is great, and like all REI branded products, is built to last. My daughter loves this. Hiking with all the benefits and none of the work. I like it because it is WAY less work than trying to carry her when she gets tired.
It's as great at the mall or around town as it is for hiking. I actually like it better than the stroller.
It has allowed us to bring her on hikes that would she normally wouldn't have come with us on.
She is getting bigger now, so I don't have to carry her all the time, but it's nice to have when she gives up. She usually crashes out within minutes of loading her in. hahahhaah.
I just wish we would have gotten the one with the backpack.

Comments about REI Tagalong Child Carrier:
I love the backpack for just trekking across town to the park, and my 2 year old son really loves to sit in it. It's tough and durable.
My biggest complaint is the sides of the carrier. They go up so high that my poor son's little arms usually just end up sitting straight out from him (they can't go down flat because the sides go up so high and he can't quite get his arms OVER the flap). I tried to adjust it so that he sits up higher so he could get his arms all the way over, but even when I've got him up as far as it will go it's still not enough. I guess that's just how they made it. Overall though it's a great product. The (REI) diaper bag attaches really easily too.

Comments about REI Tagalong Child Carrier:
The REI tagalong is a GREAT buy. I was a little worried that it might not be as good as kelty but I think it's just as good.
First of all, I'm 5'4 and small framed(105 lbs) this carrier adjusts to my size well. It's a little frustrating to adjust but that's with any carrier. The seat for the baby is very well cushioned. As far as cushioning for mom and dad there's plenty! Very comfortable to wear and walk in.
Adjusting the torso is a little time consuming but the levels are lettered so you can easily adjust to your specific fit.
I would have liked to have gotten the one with the backpack but the mesh pocket will work perfectly for short hikes.
If you are considering a backpack carrier you should definitely consider this one. The price is cheaper than other carriers out there but don't let that fool you. This carrier is durable, comfortable, and very lightweight. BUY IT!

Comments about REI Tagalong Child Carrier:
The wife and I took our son for a hike in the NC mountains and we loved this carrier. He was about six and half months and it was our first time using it. You definitely need your child to have good control of their head, but aside from that it supports them great. Our son seemed very content and happy. He did not complain one time and even took a nap for a half hour or so. We had him in it for maybe three hours, stopping for a picnic during that time. So to be fair, our use of the carrier is obviously not extensive yet. But for the first time out it was a complete success and we look forward to getting out again. Also worth noting, it was very comfortable for me as well. Can easily adjust to fit parents of all shapes and sizes.

Comments about REI Tagalong Child Carrier:
I'm 5'6" and 130 lb. My daughter is almost 3 and 28 pounds. I find this carrier comfortable. And my daughter absolutely LOVES it.
The thick straps really help with adult comfort. The shoulder straps are only meant to hold the carrier in place. Most of the weight is to be held by waist straps and not shoulder straps, as the hips can carry more weight than the shoulders.
I bought this used and looks like they made good use. And its still in good shape. So I think it's very durable.
Not taking off any stars for minimum not enough pockets since they have the same carrier with more storage.
