The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

These shorts are great for travel. They pack small and feel like real shorts not flimsy nylon shorts. There are a lot of pockets, at least six. There are four in the front (two on each side and one is a zipper pocket for valuables). There are two back pockets and they are deep (run the length of the shorts) which is great for carrying brochures or maps because you don't even need to fold them.
I have three pairs and have to stop my self from buying more.

I love these shorts, have 2 pair in different colors. The only drawback is the need to carefully pre-treat spots that are greasy. The wonderful durable material is great, but it seems to need a bit of help to release grease stains in the wash.

I took a pair of these shorts to Europe this summer and wore them constantly. They are comfortable, dry very quickly, and best of all have deep pockets and velcro pockets which meant I could feel safe keeping my passport and money in them. I had 3 pairs of shorts with me; next time I'm only taking these.

Bought a pair of these in a 12 (at the time, my usual size) and found they were j-u-s-t slightly too tight. Sized up to a 14, which was much more comfortable. Used the button tabs on the waist to get the fit just right. I adore the number and variety of pockets. My only quibble is that they have Velcro closures with the "hook" tab facing out. If you don't get the "hook" and "loop" tabs lined up just right, the "hook" side snags against fabric chairs, shirt hems and any other fabric you might bump up against. If RR would simply switch to put the "loop" tab facing out, these shorts would be perfect -- though I just took them off entirely. I find that I don't need them, especially as the back pockets are so deep that there's little danger of things falling out.

These shorts are very comfortable, look great on, and are tough. Besides wearing them for casual activities I find them very useful for gardening and around the house chores. The large and multiple pockets are great for a pair of gloves, a tape measure, or sprinkler part. The only bad thing about these shorts is that you will want more than one pair!
