Comments about Royal Robbins Backcountry Shorts - Women's:
This is the second time I've bought these shorts in the same soapstone color. I went down a size and I still wanted to wear them. Mainly I wear them just casually around town or on vacation, but they are also good for rigorous outdoor activities. They fit well , look good and are very comfortable. The quality is great. I would buy them again, and probably should before they quit making them!

Comments about Royal Robbins Backcountry Shorts - Women's:
I bought two pairs of these shorts for a long outdoor vacation. I wore them biking, hiking and camping. They held up well and dried quickly when gotten wet. My only complaint is that the different colors were not sized exactly the same. The black pair were slightly smaller.

Comments about Royal Robbins Backcountry Shorts - Women's:
The Royal Robbins Backcountry shorts are my favorite casual wear/travel shorts by far! I'm a huge fan of all the pockets on the shorts! I like that they are still able to retain a feminine appearance with all the pockets unlike cargo shorts. That said, if you tend to like putting a lot in your pockets you might want to size up for a looser fit as it makes them a bit more comfortable.
I probably own about 5 pairs of these shorts in varying colors. They have worn well, although I do see a bit of pilling in some areas of high friction from a purse rubbing against them, etc. The fabric breathes well even in hot and humid climates like Hawaii.
I don't recall what the care instructions are for the shorts, but I put a couple of my early pairs in the dryer and noticed the waist shrank a little, so I now wash them in cold water and hang dry them.

Comments about Royal Robbins Backcountry Shorts - Women's:
These shorts fit me perfectly (size 2, 5', 100lbs), no binding, twisting or pulling. My only complaint is the front velcro pocket; the two velcro pockets on the back are tolerable. I find opening a velcro pocket annoyingly difficult. When closing the pockets the velcro patches must be lined up perfectly to avoid an uneven closure that doesn't lay flat. I wish RR would replace the front velcro pocket with a zipper like the other front pocket. I will buy another pair, but think I'll remove the velcro and stitch the front pocket closed.

Comments about Royal Robbins Backcountry Shorts - Women's:
I bought my first pair close to 10 years ago. I still have them! I have purchased additional pairs through the years. These are my favorite shorts, hands down. They fit true, feel great, and look good on me. I wear them for casual wear, hiking, backpacking, and even when I do yardwork. The pockets are great and they wear like steel. So, since I don't have black I am purchasing another pair this year.

Comments about Royal Robbins Backcountry Shorts - Women's:
Bought a pair of these in a 12 (at the time, my usual size) and found they were j-u-s-t slightly too tight. Sized up to a 14, which was much more comfortable. Used the button tabs on the waist to get the fit just right. I adore the number and variety of pockets. My only quibble is that they have Velcro closures with the "hook" tab facing out. If you don't get the "hook" and "loop" tabs lined up just right, the "hook" side snags against fabric chairs, shirt hems and any other fabric you might bump up against. If RR would simply switch to put the "loop" tab facing out, these shorts would be perfect -- though I just took them off entirely. I find that I don't need them, especially as the back pockets are so deep that there's little danger of things falling out.

I own three pairs of these and no matter what, they are the first thing I grab for when looking for shorts. The material is fantastic and feels great against your skin. I can wear these to a barbeque with flip flops and a polo or I can wear them hiking, they always look great. My only cons are that they do vary somewhat in size, I have a pair that are a little on the roomy size, a pair that fit perfectly and pair that are slighty on the snug side. I also wish they came in more colors, but all in all still the best shorts I have ever owned.

Comments about Royal Robbins Backcountry Shorts - Women's:
If you want a lightweight, super comfortable and stylish pair of shorts, look no further! Perfect waist fit (mid height) with a nice length (they do not ride up) and lots of GREAT pockets. I put heavy object in the pockets and don't even feel them when I am hiking!
The material is so light, breathable and dries super quick. Everything a hiking/backpacking short should be, except you can wear these in town!
