Comments about CatEye BM-300G Road Mirror:

I need to change my December 25 review, which was very positive. I have used this extensively and the bottom line is it just won't hold in place. You will be constantly fiddling with it or you won't get your view. Unfortunately, nothing out there that I am aware of is any better. I'll be working on doing custom mods to this to see if I can solve the problem. The MANUFACTURER should be doing that, not me! Oh well. Keep looking- maybe something out there is better.

Comments about CatEye BM-300G Road Mirror:

Agree with other reviews, this fit my steel bar bike so I bought a second one for my new Novara with aluminum handlebars which were a little thicker and the mirror would not fit. My solution? Dremel tool. If you just thin out the last inch of the bar under the grip, I don't believe that will pose any safety issue and the mirror installed nicely.

Comments about CatEye BM-300G Road Mirror:

I recently got interested in a mirror because I started winter riding (and, ok, I confess, riding with an ipod) and felt that I couldn't hear cars coming with the hat on.

The Cateye mirror is simple, straightforward, reasonable quality, inexpensive, and does the job- what else could you want? It will get bumped out of place eventually, so you'll have to reach down and re-set it- pretty easy to get it where you want it. (I guess they were thinking that if it is designed to "give," it might not break if you let the bike drop- but I haven't tried that.) You may also bump it if you like to ride with your grip "down" on the ends of the drop bars. The mirror gives a nice big view.

Do not buy theCycleAware. Two show-stopper problems- the image is way too small, and your knee will block half the image as well. The mirror was useless- I returned it after a couple of rides. Cateye solves this problem by setting the mirror a few inches out from the end of the drop bar.

The only negative with the Cateye is that it is not Aero. Hey Cateye- I would gladly have paid 4 times the price for a slightly more refinded aero version. Until then, go with this one, it works.

              Nice mirror - good price.

Did not fit the bar-end on my Specialized. :-(
I'm sure I can figure out what to do with it since I lost the reciept and can't return it.

Comments about CatEye BM-300G Road Mirror:

This looks like a simple, reasonably well constructed mirror. BUT there was no indication that it doesn't fit many of the narrower diameter bars. Our family has 6 bikes, this doesn't fit ANY of the folding bikes, nor one of the full-size Giant bikes.

If the minimum size were specified, then would have saved a lot of time!

Comments about CatEye BM-300G Road Mirror:

This is a very simple mirror. Installs easily on a mountain bike. I've been running one of these for the last 6 years without any problems. I've got it installed in a down and back position on my left grip. Provides good visibility and is scratch resistant. The mirror pivot can work loose over time - or after numerous bumps / knocks. Just tighten the phillips screw every now and then and you should be good. For the money, it can't be beat.

These are great for road bikes and I've even converted old ones for mtn bike bars. They don't rattle which is the main problem with any bicycle mirror, zero rattle, perfect mirror.
