I have been wearing this product for many years....the best experience was the 1st pair....the worst was the previous model to the current (not sure on the timing) however the serious design flaw was the large diagonal buttoned down inside flap which made it impossible for a male to relieve himself using the zipper, thank goodness for the wide leg! The current design has improved on this problem somewhat, there is still some binding when the zipper is used allowing for a smaller than desirable opening....it is my view that the inside buttoning ought to be abandoned or that the inside flap ought to be a narrow piece of fabric that extends over to the left where the button is located say 2 inches from the zipper which would allow sufficient flexing of the material when the zipper is being used.I noticed that from the last model to this the leg opening was reduced by one half inch, I would prefer the former, however the current work but ought not to get any narrower or there will be significant binding for those of us with thighs[...]

I've been buying these shorts for 20+ years because they fit so well and the short 5-inch inseam gives me so much freedom of movement. Hope they keep making them forever, but I worry that they will stop because the styles have changed and shorts are longer these days.

This is one of the few products I'm able to find that one can actually CALL shorts. The prevalent style calls for a diaper halfway below one's knees. I wear them on my job, they hold up well, and are comfortable. I just purchased four pair on clearance just in case REI discontinues them.

My son has a pair of these shorts that he wears all the time, he has actually worn holes in them. We ordered 2 more pairs, same size (he has not gained a pound) and they shunk at least a whole size when I washed them for the first time. Returning them for a larger size, hopefully they will fit. He didn't have this problem the first time. Maybe the material has changed?

Bought a pair of 32's several years ago made in Singapore and they fit nicely. Bought a pair of 34's a couple of years back made in Cambodia and they fit well. Last year I bought another pair of 34's, again made in Cambodia, they are cut a little larger than the last pair of 34's. I am sized in-between medium and large so I take my chances. Love these shorts. Still wearing all three pairs Spring, Summer and Fall.
