Comments about Ice Tubes:
These tubes are the best shaped ice tray you can buy for large, glass water pipes, should you wish to carry any of these.
In my experience, normal ice cube trays simply do not fit. Only mini fridge ice cubes do but those are rare.
I recommended buying a REI cooler for extra cooling storage.

Comments about Ice Tubes:
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!! I've read the reviews and didn't realize there were specialized set of instructions, like after the water freezes put submerge in warm water or wait a little bit so it melts. Seriously, why go through all of that work when you can go to [...] or some other home kitchen place and buy ice trays that can fit water bottles??? I bought it on a whim, but cringe when i have to empty out the ice trays. I wish i had my reciept. Poor poor poor.

Comments about Ice Tubes:
Had high hopes for this ice tray. FINALLY we could fit ice into our narrow-necked bottles. This tray, though, is kind of a pain to use. To get the ice to actually come out of the tray, you have to run warm water over it, which melts the ice. Messy. There is a MUCH better tray out there (can't say where in the review, I guess--bummer). Much easier to use. LOVE REI, but this tray missed it.

Comments about Ice Tubes:
Ice Cubes, Ice Sticks, Ice Tubes, and then some
I bought an Ice Tube Tray with no prior experience with ice stick trays. After reading the user reviews, I experimented and want to add some details for using the tray that has succeeded. I have several Nalgene 16 ounce water bottles that I wash by hand daily. I have a system for washing them that will be included in this product review for Ice Tubes. Before washing the Nalgene water bottles, I start with a clean sink basin, put in the stopper, fill the basin with hot water to a level of about three to four inches. I do not add dish soap. I put the Ice Tubes tray with the blue bottom still secure and oriented at the bottom of the Ice Tubes Tray into the hot water. I hold the Ice Tubes Tray in the hot water for 30 seconds to one and one-half minutesuch that the top of the tray is freely clear of the water level in the basin. (Here you'll have to become obsessive yourself to arrive at an accurate count because I have not timed it myself.) I then remove the Ice Tubes Tray from the hot water in the basin, dry the water from the sides and the bottom of the Ice Tubes Tray with a clean bar towel. I remove the ice cube holder from my freezer at this time, turn the Ice Tubes Tray upside down over the ice cube holder, and remove the blue bottom. As the blue bottom is removed, all of the Ice Tubes fall out of the Ice Tubes Tray into the ice cube holder. I like the Ice Tubes a lot, but my freezer can only accommodate one Ice Tubes Tray. When I saw the Ice Tubes Tray in the store, I liked the idea so much that I bought one for someone who has an apartment-sized freezer.
Before buying the Ice Tubes Tray, I had seen stackable ice "stick" trays that make half-round cylinders of ice for bottles at the local dollar store. The ones at the dollar store don't stack but nest within each others' cylinders so that the surface water tension would have to support each tray in the freezer probably making a mess long before getting the tray to the freezer. So, I never bought any ice stick trays from the dollar store.
I had to go to a different store which I cannot name as it is against the posting rules that sells simple half-cylindrical ice stick trays that stack against each other and do not nest inside each other. I wish I could tell you the store as stacking, not nesting, is the key with ice stick trays. There are much more forbidding contraptions than Ice Tubes Trays for making ice sticks I have found by surfing the Internet.
My freezer accommodates three stackable (not nesting) ice stick trays and one Ice Tubes Tray vertically stacked. I'm keeping all four trays and making them a part of my evening Nalgene bottle washing routine as I need ice sticks.
After I've released the Ice Tubes from the Ice Tubes Tray, I add the dish soap to my sink of water, put the Nalgene water bottles into the clean dishwater. Then I wash each bottle top and inside of each bottle top, the bottle top cords and the inside and outside of each bottle top, and the exterior of the bottle tops with a fresh dish cloth. I wash the inside of the Nalgene bottles with a baby bottle brush. I rinse all of the bottles with hot water which usually requires that I fill or partially fill each bottle twice in order to rinse away the dish soap.
I don't have a dishwasher, so my dirty dishes are washed after the Nalgene bottles. The routine takes more time than using dishwashers or only washing my dishes by hand, but it's just a part of another routine. I like not only my Nalgene bottles but also the lovely Ice Tubes and extra ice sticks.
The main inconvenience about Ice Tubes Trays that I can see is the space that they require for small freezers, or if one simply does not have a few extra minutes. I wouldn't recommend Ice Tubes Trays for people in college, working parents who don't have time to iron or cook every night and rely on fast food in wrinkly depermapressed clothes,

Comments about Ice Tubes:
I don't know what's driving the bad reviews. Or maybe I do: those people are just impatient. At first, I had trouble getting the ice out. No amount of twisting and turning would dislodge those suckers. (HINT: this is not a regular ice tray!) So I walked over to the computer and visited the "Ice Tubes" web site to see what they suggested. (They say to run warm water over the tray). I went back and picked up the tray and half the tubes just slid out before I could even turn on the water! So, just be patient: take the tray out of the freezer, set it aside for a few minutes, turn it upside down, enjoy your ice tubes!

Comments about Ice Tubes:
Takes forever to get the ice OUT of the tray. Dip it a few times in warm water and then jab something inside to poke it out with....no thanks, the point of this product is convenience and it is anything but convenient.

Comments about Ice Tubes:
I like this product. It fits easily into any water bottle. If you follow the directions on the outside wrap, you will not have any problems using the tray. I was a little worried about this product due to some of the reviews but the first time I used it I did not have any difficulty whatsoever. This was a great idea!

Comments about Ice Tubes:
I would have given the product no stars if it was possible. I wanted to like this product, to no avail. The ice tubes are difficult to use, messy, time consuming and frustrating. All of the things I was hoping would not happen. My bottom line is I think REI should reconsider selling such a hideous farce. I would return the two I purchased but it is not worth the gas, shipping materials, time, etc. Instead I will donate them to the Good Will and hope someone else likes it.

Comments about Ice Tubes:
This is a great idea. The ice cubes fit into any size bottle openings. The only problem we had was getting the ice out of the trays. It's not quite a easy as they would have you believe. But after a few tries we found we could make it work.

Comments about Ice Tubes:
Well, I have only used it twice since I bought this.
It is little complicate to use than majority of ice trays to the point it's pakage actually recomand its user to dip it in the warm water to let loose of the ice once its done.
