The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Black Diamond GTX Frontpoint Gaiters:
I purchased these to use for alpine mountaineering however the x-large wouldn't fit over my size 11 Koflach boots. Not even close. They appear to be well built except for the buckle. Had to return these for the OR expedition crocs

Comments about Black Diamond GTX Frontpoint Gaiters:
I got my pair back in 2002 when my wife and I backpacked from the east coast to the west coast through the highlands of Scotland. One leg of our journey required that crossed Rannoch Moor. The standard joke was that it is 12-14 miles depending on if it's raining. Why? When it's raining, the already wet and boggy moor becomes a like a swamp and you cannot simply walk directly across. On a number of occasions, I sunk into the boggy, wet soil all the way up to my knees. Yet, the water never got under my gaiters.
I also use these when ice climbing, doing snow approaches that involve lots of "post-holing," etc. Never have these gaiters failed me.

Comments about Black Diamond GTX Frontpoint Gaiters:
yes, they fit tight. i've been using them with my size 12 plastic double boots. however my XL gaiters do fit my double boots, and they fit size 47 (US 13) la sportiva trango extremes too. if you use a 13+ plastic boot, get the XL Black Diamond Apex gaiter.
I've also never had an issue with the buckle, and the material is very durable. my crampons have scraped them multiple times and they haven't ripped.

Comments about Black Diamond GTX Frontpoint Gaiters:
I used these on two hikes in the snow before the buckle on one of them broke. I considered it a fluke and exchanged them for a new pair. On the next hike, the strap broke. They worked great when they weren't broken, but they are not durable at all.

Comments about Black Diamond GTX Frontpoint Gaiters:
I use these for summer climbing and thought that they would be great for winter climbing [...] they dont fit over the top of a koflach boot. and really dont accomidate climbing sized calfs. Also, the elastic at the top streaches out and snags on stuff.Buy the OR Expedition crocs.

Comments about Black Diamond GTX Frontpoint Gaiters:
The upper material construction and calf strap are excellent. The boot strap and buckle are under-engineered. I used these gaiters on three climbs with double plastic boots and the boot strap on both broke. [...]

Comments about Black Diamond GTX Frontpoint Gaiters:
I use it for day hikes in mud and deep snow in the winter and early spring. The quality is superb and I have had none of the issues that others complain about. The straps are strong and nylon reinforced. The buckles are tough. I hit rocks and tree stumps and the buckles still look new. The front lace hook can be tucked in the velcro and not used. The cord at the top is fastened by a push tab that is sewn to the gaiter. Smart design! The lower half of the gaiter is covered in a ballistic nylon that sheds abrasions from your boot soles. They are unlikely to tear like other brands. Again, smart design! The cut is slimmer than others and this might create problems for plastic oversized boots. XL fits my size-11 medium Merrell hiking boots and light KEEN hiking shoes. The fit is trim and they do not fall down even if the calf strap is left loose. Well made and excellent for deep snow and mud. I love them.

Comments about Black Diamond GTX Frontpoint Gaiters:
I've used a pair for 4-5 years. worked perfectly in relentless postholing above the knees, to classic snow climbs mixed with rock. Sorry to hear some had buckle issues, maybe I have an older pair but they are still together. I really like the trimmed fit, they shed crampon snags well. I have a pair of OR crocs, also good, but I felt are too baggy. Agree with, dont see how these will go over a plastic boot. for me I'm more of a spring/summer use and lightweight or hybrid mt boot.
